Has the clause for Business Uncapped changed, so we aren't guaranteed to be unshaped?, if that is the case then time to find another ISP...The network has been rubbish lately, twitch, youtube, downloads, all are messed up...

Yes, Afrihost will now shape Business Uncapped as a last resort if the network is under strain. So no guarantees. Afrihost did not even publicly inform us. I found out here, still no official email, but the website has been updated.

Would you mind linking that?

2 - Shaping:*
-*Home Uncapped*packages are subject to throttling should a user have reached their monthly*threshold*and our network is under strain.
-*Premium Uncapped*packages are not subject to throttling or monthly thresholds, and will enjoy full speed real-time services under all normal circumstances, but may be subject to shaping of downloads should the network be under strain.
- Our intention is not to shape*Business Uncapped*packages, however shaping can be applied during times of network congestion. When applied, only non-realtime, non-interactive services will be affected by shaping, to offer the best possible experience to users when resources are strained. Business Uncapped users also have access to the Business Optimisation feature in ClientZone, which restricts P2P traffic specifically to ensure that business-critical services perform at the highest possible levels.

Every morning and every afternoon my line starts dropping every 30seconds, without me even browsing, it's like it knows I need to use it most at these times and karma is a ....., this carries on for about and hour sometimes longer, I have now sent 3 automated line faults to telkom to try and resolve this, no response, they were helpful at the beginning but now just seem to ignore my issue I don't even receive a sms with a reference number, apparently they moved me to a new port which is BS if this issue is still continuing, I have however ordered a new modem to see if my lovely telkom pace modem might be part of the problem, but I suspect my problems wont end there.

Actual rate (up) 1020 kbps
Actual rate (down) 18796 kbps
Data transfered (sent) 0 kB
Data transfered (received) 0 kB
Output power (up) 12.4 dBm
Output power (downstream) 17.5 dBm
Line attenuation (up) 11 dBm
Line attenuation (downstream) 27.5 dB
Noise margin (up) 8.6 dB
Noise margin (downstream) 5.1 dB

As everyone uses up the last of their caps as they have the mentality of saving the data till the last moment and then splurging it, causing slow-downs for everyone. Check tomorrow, the latency/throughput issues will be a lot better again. It's the same if you check the Telkom LTE threads (I haven't looked at any other ISP/network threads today)

Maybe before, but why do this now if the cap rolls over?

Anything below 6 is a problem. Easiest solution is drop your linespeed to 10mb.

Youtube and general streaming has normally been great in the mornings. Today however, it loads very slow, and just buffers. Im not home now, but will check later. In the Cape area

I upgraded from 10Mb, because 20Mb recently became available, I live just over 1km form the exchange which should give me a great ratio.
Funny enough the 1st week the line was hitting a full 20Mbs without issue, if I could get fiber here , I would drop them in a second. The lack of any further support, I'm not sure why I'm surprised.

I am noticing a general international speed issue this afternoon. Everything was fine up until around 4pm and now it is all lagging badly. Local is 100% but international is a huge issue right now for me.

Sorry to hear :(
Did you manage to grab any tests I can look at?

Once again, routing has gone pear shaped. Daily occurence lately

Tracing route to www.news24.com [41.86.110.200]

Seems this issue has still not been resolved.

Sorry about this :(
I'm querying an update with our NOC team on this. At best, this is affecting a very small handful of clients so it's proving quite tough to track down.

This is now getting really old. We've been trying to be patient and understanding, but enough is enough.
Trying to get some actual work done online, but constant buffering.

Really sorry about this, our NOC team should have updates on this sometime today.

Those line stats don't look healthy and will be the cause of the line drops.
I see you recently upgraded your line which is quite common, if the drops happen frequently I can only recommend downgrading back to the speed you previously had.

Did you check to make sure you are indeed running on VDSL and not ADSL2+?, I have seen somewhere on MyBB a user had the same issue. Turns out the modulation was causing poor SNR..If you have a VDSL router and its not on VDSL mode, then you need to log a call and request it to be moved over to VDSL. Check if it solves your issue. If not then do what Afriguy suggested and downgrade back to 10mb, until telkom can replace the copper in your area.

The 20Mbs is running on ADSL2+ there is no line sync on VDSL mode, it looks like I will have to move back to 10Mbs until fiber arrives, so sad  I don't really understand why it's being offered if it doesn't work. But you know Telkom is what it is, there's never anything nice to say about them so I won't say anything, my language gets colorful when talking about them, it happens naturally. Thanks for the tip anyway.

Ah, that sucks :(
The line's listed as feasible, but other factors are involved hence the "up to" rates. You could always give it a few days to normalise.

There's 20Mbps available in my area too, but the max sync I can get is 12Mbps and it's pretty unstable. Rather stick with a stable, well performing 10Mbps line :)

I see Afrihost setup a Varnish Cache server for ShowMax on 169.1.1.227.
Now I see SSL errors every now and again when watching Showmax, changing to google DNS and all is fine.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 15804 kbps (1975.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 835 kbps (104.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 6 ms
Jitter: 1 ms

Just had a port reset.

SNR still at 5.8

It does suck, the line has been reduced to 19Mbs and 18Mbs previously but no change in the SNR. It would suck to downgrade and find out it's this terrible Telkom Pace modem, but I suppose it's wishful thinking. If only there was a option for 15Mbs, with cheaper data
