Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

and you are the one who has had alot of issues before from what i can remember, and i know the reps have been very helpful towards you. How is your experience right now Unhappy? Still having issues, or are things looking better?

Correct, so i can understand the frustration (except the issue wasn't exclusive to me, it was KZN). Currently things seem to be fine.

Proposal to the Afrihost reps. on the forum.

We currently discussing a way forward with MyBroadband, ...

Regards

Afriman

@Afriman - may I propose the following :

1. a new thread is started for feedback (fresh start, if for nothing else), simply entitled "Afrihost Network Feedback", as it's no longer "new" since the split from MTN, which is what I think prompted this one ? ;

2. negative feedback is obviously allowed (as it was before), but any personal attacks on you and the other Afrihost reps will result in either / both :

a. posts being deleted outright by the mods. ;
b. banning of the person posting, from the forums.

Since committing to join Afrihost, I was looking forward to being with an ISP that gives almost instantaneous feedback on this forum, something which is nowadays nonexistent from my other ISP. Hoping you & the other guys reconsider, if the above points are feasible, as you were a great team. I'm sure the vast majority of us would highly appreciate your return .. and the balance could be dealt with as described.

It's a very poor reflection on this community that the Afrihost reps have been abused like this.

Abusive posts have been moderated anyway. But when this thread consists of mostly abuse that's much more difficult. The community needs to want AH representation - mods can't be expected to be bodyguards.

Ignore the disgruntled ex clients that is not what this thread is for this is for feedback from current clients

It's not reasonable to expect their reps to just ignore all the abuse when it takes up most of the thread nowadays. They can't engage with customers if the customers are either abusing them or reading all the abuse and then asking about the issues being raised.

That's not to say issues should not be raised, but feedback should always be courteous and constructive.

Mybroadband has actually become a very toxic environment. No constructive discussions, only people yelling at others about how bad their ISP. (Exception for the CW fanbois who are basically iSheep at this point)

Afriman

I liked your stand back approached, but now you are suppose to come back stronger and deal with the issues that your boss left with you to sort out. Not running away. There's many customers who appreciated what you did and still doing and others - me included - that are unhappy. Please see the personal attacks as attacks against Afrihost and not you. You are the "lightning distractor" if I may put it that way.

The last two days my streaming is a okay but there's still others that are "suffering". And in "pain and suffering we stand together ". These issues that we had and some still have should have been resolved before the big hoha.

So until sorted - we have the right to complain - even vehemently. It is our right and cannot and will not be taken away from us.

Only millennials are entitled. Otherwise tough luck.

Afriman is not obligated to respond too people here. This is only an extension to their support system. Just go create a ticket. Stop crying out publicly as if you are entitled for your voice to be heard.

It happens if people are left with faceless email addresses and callcentre numbers to communicate with. The support people are trained to a script, and are not necessary experts, so often they cannot help. But then one needs to be able to escalate to someone that can, or the tools to troubleshoot needs to be available.

There are plenty of constructive conversations. But saying things like 'CW fanbois are basically iSheep' isn't going to get you one though.

Be courteous and elaborate on your criticisms, and we'll all get along fabulously.

No one has a right to abuse someone else though.

The reps are not community punching bags. People shouldn't be surprised if they just bugger off after prolonged personal attacks.

Is this not the "Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2" thread?

Are there not countless users feeding back that:
a. they have issues on the "new" network
b. they have created tickets but were closed/ignored/not resolved
c. having submitted countless tests the issues are still persisting with no resolution in sight?

I don't think complaining about not receiving a service you are paying for is crying in public as if you are entitled.

Abuse = treat with cruelty or violence.
Really???

A string of personal attacks from page to page is a cruel manner to treat someone. It's not acceptable, plain and simple.

If you can't submit your issues in a courteous and constructive manner, then don't do it at all.

If you go back through the hundreds of users you will find with the exception of some special (with a k) cases most users started off courtious and willing to submit tests/feedback.

People's patience and BS tolerance tested over weeks and weeks I would take a wild guess is the cause for the decline in politeness...

So when a person disagrees with he/she, it is a personal attack. Welcome to social media.

Actually your post is indicative of what has gone wrong with this forum, and why so little constructive debate takes place.

Your generalisations above are not necessary at all and the reference to CW is actually just throwing out some bait.
On so many threads that show any "support" for the "victim" (i.e. Vodacom or Windows 10, whatever) that person is immediately branded as a "fanboy" as if this is some or other sub species of mankind.
And in your post you generalise and call anyone who is giving credit to whomever is now an "iSheep".
Both labels are insulting and unnecessary and in this thread your comment highlighted does not add any value to your argument at all.

Proper debate allows for all opinions on the subject matter and refrains from any implied or otherwise personal attacks.

Not at all. The whole idea of "social media" is to allow for a free and easy way to debate topics, but so much of it is nothing but personal attack.

Well that is why some of us refuse to get involved at all with Facebook, Twitter, and the myriad of other platforms around.

Primarily, MYBB started out as a technical forum that relaxed its rule a bit to allow for OT debate, and then became to a very large extent an opportunity to generalise, insult, and sling mud.

Other forums I belong to have an absolute zero tolerance for this sort of thing. There are no warnings, whatsoever. Break the rules and you are out, permanently end of story. There is no appeal process nothing, rule breakers are just gone.

I agree with this Bryn. I know you have had a terrible time of things, but i cant recall you ever being disrespectful to the reps. I know , that is the reason why they have taken a step back, not because of anything else, but the way AfriGuy was treated was absolutely rubbish.

no, disagreements are fine, no problem. But being disrespectful in the way you say things is a different matter all together. I dont even know if you read all the posts from certain posters.
