Its okay, then it shoots up, then down again. Something is happening on your line. Get Telkom to send a techie, and ask them to check if there is any degradation somewhere, or ask them to test for metallic noise.

Have you tried a replacement router?

@wingnut: Here are some tests you asked for.

Thanks IOPS for doing this but I did say to only test if others where having issues which I don't see any reports of so nothing to compare to. I see your international looked good too.

So, please do the same next time (along with Iceman) ONLY when the others are complaining.

All those pings… I think I strained my thumb scrolling past them all.

Will do.
I've got Smokeping setup, it's not really a true reflection if my line is saturated though.

Although we try to prioritize gaming traffic, certain games might use the same protocols that could fall under the "blanket" of shaping, but our Network Team are always proactive with regards to managing this. Let us know how your game performs using a Capped account. :)

Well, not sure what changed from yesterday but as soon as 8AM hit, I'm now getting massive ping and packet loss in Armored Warfare. This happened mid-game. I'm talking like spikes up to 3000ms and so on. Guess it was good while it lasted.
Tried with the free 1GB account and it's fine. Broken on Uncapped Premium.

Hi to all in the South (Capetown folks). :) Our Network Team are reporting improved results in the South. Would those who have been worst affected please report back if anything has improved? I've PM'd a couple of you already. :)

Yes everything is back to normal this morning thanks.
I am getting the full 4MB/s line speed again thanks.

Whatever the problem was, it seems to have been resolved.
ADSL speeds are back to normal this morning thanks.

:(

That's disappointing, I'll check with the Team if we can get an updated signature for the game.

Some feedback regarding the issues experienced this weekend - CPT, Northern Suburbs, Capped Package, 20Mbps line

There was a point this weekend where everything went to crap, YouTube was maxing out at 2Mbps+-, Twitch would barely buffer on Medium (usually stream on High or Source with no issues) and general browsing was also quite slow. Latency to WoW EU was also around the 400ms mark, and it usually hovers around 190ms.

While this was happening I did perform a few tracert's and pings and was seeing exactly the same as other people in this thread, very high latency locally and internationally. These issues seem to be resolved however, I still do notice a slowdown after 18h00 until about 00h00. It's not an exchange issue as if I dial into another ISP account everything is immediately faster with lower latency.

I know that Twitch is an issue in SA and Afrihost isn't the only ISP where streaming from Twitch is an issue but I do feel as though it is worse on Afrihost than other ISPs. Even on a good day I never see above 5-6Mbps on Afrihost. Dialing into my Vox capped account during these times, seems to alleviate the issues...

Speeds were still slow when I tested them at 7am but the latency is back to normal in games. Can't run tests atm.

I'm struggling since last night with my internet.

4th hop ?

Most of the time there is a connection but pages are very slow to open. I have rebooted the router several times.
