Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Drop in throughput, I wasn't home the entire afternoon and just returned, but it's still the same,. It seams my line is dropping to below 1 MB download and sometimes completely.

Not cool. Are you seeing any issues on a general speedtest?

Download Speed: 1437 kbps (179.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 678 kbps (84.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 44 ms

This on a 8 MB line, the actual line stats on the modem is normal, syncing at just over 8 MB down and around 750 Kb up.

Sorry, should have checked this post. :p

Your ping to bras is showing some latency. Looks like congestion. :(

:D whats happening people? Telkom were by me today, but still dont know what the issue is. My line randomly drops, but according to them all is fine.

Hmmm... From what I've seen on your line there is definitely an SNR issue. :( Did you look at your line stats with the tech?

Anybody have any alternative ISPs they can recommend? Looking for about 200-300gb of capped data. Dont care much for the uncapped times.

cpt user here. try vox. switched over to them from afri for a week now and getting rocksolid +-170ms when gaming internationally. previously on afrihost i always got 200ms+..on a good day, on a bad day..well u know how afri is on a bad day, and lately there's been far too many bad days. if you are serious about gaming latency, give vox a try, they are significantly more expensive but from my experience their network is vastly superior.

Same *****, CPT, network is totally screwed, can't play, can't dwnld trtntzz, can't even stream!
WTF!!!
Last time Afrihost was blaming my line, and told me that when I switch to some other ISP, line goes through port reset and it improves for a short time, but it is simply not true! it improves but does not degrades with time (with other ISP) and with Afrihost there is just no happiness tonight. Frak it!

Ive been trying to tell them this for ages now. Tech says no noise, but another tech says there is some metallic noise. Bit frustrating, as it works reasonably well, but just the line drops are a pain.

Browsing is really slow.
Web pages take long to load.
Apps are timing out and showing no connectivity including YouTube.

Went to a friend's on Vox, everything works perfectly.

Can't send tests because I don't have my laptop.
Disappointed that Afrihost is having issues recently :(

Durban atm. (Btw it was fine the whole weekend, and daytime today)

Morning Guys!

I checked with the Team, and there were not any network issues last night in the South, so we'll need to do a bit of troubleshooting to figure out why your experiences weren't great.

How are things looking this morning?
