What is this Google DNS I am to use? Is it a value you insert into the router in the connection criteria settings?

Having lots of timeouts to my server, makes online gaming impossible when you keep timing out, yet on a different ISP no issue.

Also am seeing almost 100ms more on my latency tonight that I had last night or weeks before. This is on a capped account.

have to just LOVE this congestion ON Afrihost's network itself... For three months now, absolutely NOTHING has been done to fix this...

Really now???? How much longer until you eventually fix what ever you broke? Perhaps it's time to stop giving away freebies...

Sick and tired of this congestion, EACH AND EVERY single bloody night.

EDIT: Can't wait for my MetroEthernet. I'd rather pay R10K per month and have a WORKING bloody internet connection, instead of sitting with the one lame ass ISP after the next that doesn't have a bloody clue what they are doing.

Yeah, did lightning strike your line or something? Those are easily one of the worst line stats I have ever seen.
Try removing all your filters/phones and plugging the modem directly into the wall.

I don't have any telephones connected, just the Adsl cable connected directly from the router into the wall box. I'm not sure, it's possible. It's very bad, YouTube fluctuates and I hardly get over 150 kBps and I have a 2 MB line.

The line jumps a lot. Not a constant speed when youtubing. I'm trying to reopen the fault as they conveniently closed the fault and said it was resolved, I sent them a pic of my line stats. My friend even said the cable is most likely damaged somewhere.

must agree internet is really down the crapper and works fine with other isp this problem looks more and more like the old network when it was congested to the point where it was unusable

hi, my speed has a problem, please check.

Had "cannot find DNS" and no email in or out all Sunday and until 9.00am today. On calling said was a 20 min delay. Got cut off after 10 mins

What was wrong? Was it something I am supposed to do?

I haven't seen that error before. Are you using automatically assigned DNS or static DNS addresses?

What is this Google DNS I am to use? Is it a value you insert into the router in the connection criteria settings?

We'd rather you used our DNS, automatically assigned, so we can fail over if any of our IP's run into issues. Using Google or other DNS can throw off our troubleshooting :(

Your latency to BRAS seems pretty intermittent. If you changed accounts, that might effectively reset your port and that could explain why another ISP account appears to show improvement. If you stay connected for a longer period, do you see the latency creep up again?

The problem with lightning damage is that it could create problems anywhere from your router to the port at the exchange, so we'll need to do some troubleshooting to identify which link (s) may have been damaged. Testing your router on a line that is working (at a friend or family member's place) is a good start to eliminate that factor.

hi, my speed has a problem, please check.

Doesn't look too good there. Do you have the same issue if you try any ISP account?

Hey everyone

As you know, our long time champion of MyBB, AfriGuy, went on to his next big adventure - so we've been a little short of faces here in the forums.

I'm happy to welcome AfriNatic to the MyBB team! A little bit about him - he is a veteran of our support and client services team, he worked with live chat, and is also a fibre fundi. Basically, he's an all-round rock star!

I hope you guys will give him a warm welcome and help him to help you have a better Afrihost experience!

Welcome, AfriNatic! :)
