P2P speeds are still horrible ... making me angry, sad and depressed

Well, if you're Uncapped you might be affected by shaping at this time. :) Our policies have not changed even though we switched networks. Unfortunately I don't have your username so I can't see whether or not you are indeed being shaped... My inbox doors are still open. :p

I got Business Account and P2P was ok in afternoon. But now speed is terrible!!

Everything else look ok.. But not P2P..

If I only stream, and on uncapped, will I be shaped, or are streaming prioritised on the network?

Weird, Business shouldn't be affected... How are your HTTP downloads?

Streaming is considered a real time service and will never be affected by shaping. :) We only shape non realtime download traffic such as p2p, NNTP, HTTP downloads etc...

Okay thanks, good to hear. Happy to stay on uncapped, as the missus and son uses it.

At what stage do you guys throttle if at all, if usage is only for streaming purposes? How do you guys monitor this, and see if its streaming or not?

Charl indicated to me, that on the Telkom side, on an uncapped line, one could normally reach between 150 to 180GB's before the FUP kicks in.again dependant if user is busy with torrents, p2p etc and doing alot more than that.

Hope this is helpful. You'll have to explain how to do a core dumping of raw output packets. :o

@LaraC

Thanks for the info, your line state seems perfect with the provided results, thanks. I see you running Windows 10 connected to your router Gbit lan - Getting into the Core/Netdump of raw packets with gateway monitors running is a whole in depth scenario at its own to explain here.

We use various UNIX/LNix back-end systems doing that sort of deeper analysis, so.. no need to provide that info as the AH reps/Engineers do that from their side. Most, well, 99% of the Home/SOHO routers don't have that functionality built in, even if you want load some OS firmware on the specific device which I wouldn't recommend if you happy with the current device, TP-LINK.x ETC.

I will test later this week with our backup AH account more in dept (PPflowD-OpenBSD/Cisco) - routes, RRT.v etc. to some local and popular int. servers commonly used ea. gaming, stream_source analysis, VOD. etc.

WinMTR is sort of ok, only thing is, its running "ontop" of the winsock network stack layer, depending on other various underlying processes running in windows by itself, but otherwise gives a good idea overall.

Regards,
Imp#

Hi steel_dog

I must say I have great faith in our Support Team and we honestly do not monitor which services your data is being used on. We only have logs of your total usage per session. I'll be happy to look into your matter and give you as much information I possibly can! Drop me a PM with you ticket number and info! :)
Sent a PM with the ticket number.
Clearly you're the new "fella" on the block (excuse the pun) ;)... else you'd have come to terms with the fact that your clients have to reach out to the reps here to get the levels and quality of service they aren't getting from the call center.

We actually don't have a "fair usage cap" and we only really start shaping when we detect strain on the overall network. Right now, the new network has lots of capacity and shaping is at a minimum. :)

I'd like to stress, though, that your streaming will never be affected by our shaper and is only inclined to look at non real time protocols. :)

Might be the new kid on MyBB, but I've been with AH for a long time... :)

Thanks for the PM! I'll definitely follow up! :)
