Afrihost Plus pricing and details

The benefit here is not having to worry if it does, or when it may come back as a general promo cos you can lock this in for yourself :)

Actually for me it's quite simple you stop the double data promo and I can get a better deal elsewhere (Axxess) I will immediately jump ship. The other bolt-ons you are offering are useless to me.

So if Axxess stops their double data promotion, again I will jump ship the next best offer. It's all about the affordability of my data and not the bolt-ons that are meaningless to me.

Updated the article with new information from Afrihost. They may elect to not launch the service at all based a client survey it intends to launch later today.

---

UPDATE: Afrihost has said that it has decided to delay the launch of Afrihost Plus to get more feedback from clients, and depending on client feedback may not launch the product any time soon, or even at all.

"I am sending an email to our clients later asking them whether we should in fact launch Plus+ or not and will act based on the results of this," Afrihost CEO Gian Visser said.

Visser also said that although the current incarnation of Afrihost Plus includes a 3o-day trial period, and while there is a strong chance they will launch the product that way (if it launches), there is still a chance that they may not offer a trial at launch.

Perhaps the first thing is to rather pull head for arse and fix the current list of problems before looking the other way and releasing new products...

The rands must flow.

This is rubbish.
Customers with just mobile data do not benefit value-wise.

I would rather cancel all 3 of my mobile data sims with AH come December if it changes.

Actually you are wrong. I only use AH for mobile data and paying R99 to keep my 2 x 5+ 5GB's going is worth it to me.

Considering Axxess mobile data 10+10 is R579-00 and Afrihost was R497-00 I have just lost out on a fair deal with extras I would have used :(

So you benefit by paying R99 more for what you got currently.

Yoh but people are angry.

I don't mind paying for this service, as long as it offers benefits that are not mathematically less than that offered by a competitor. The general impression I get is that people are more interested in the mobile benefits as opposed to the soft-capping of capped DSL options. With Axxess not also offering double mobile data, in addition to their 3-month data rollover, it all but negates the Afrihost+ offering for me. I use Spotify on my Rooted Droid so Simfy doesn't really appeal either.

My 50gb+50gb would cost 50% more and eliminate the reason for using Afrihost. It would be better to pay that extra money for Vox Fat Pipe and get data rollover. None of the other trinkets in the R99 lucky packet are worth a damn.

I use RDIO but happy to give Simfy a shot...

But Axxess mobile data is currently more expensive anyway?

Would be worth it if their network was stable or could stay stable for longer than a few months at a time.

When compared to Axxess mobile data 10gig price. If I bolt on R99-00 with Afrihost I am only paying R17-00 more for the same product in comparison.

But for R17-00 more I get 500meg extra. And a further R60-00 on a music service (My Rdio costs me R60-00 a month). And 2 for 1 topups is in place (Does Axxess do this as well?).

Seems like I would benefit?

Someone can check my maths - These pages are all blocked at my work.

More expensive? They are offering double data, meaning 500meg+500meg for R50. That's currently unbeatable no matter where you look.

if you like RDIO you'll love Spotify, albeit side-loaded. Root your Droid and spoof a 7" display using the X-Posed framework and you can skip indefinitely, play specific songs and cross-fade. Free.

Tried to root. Followed all the steps over and over but failed after a couple hours :( Can't remember exactly but there was a program to do something with the USB for the phone, I recall a command prompt. I think it just wasn't reading the USB to the phone on Windows 8.1. Probably would have worked on another PC but anyway I don't want to go through that again :o

If you want to keep your customers happy, keep doubling our ADSL capped data. It's the best offer you have ever given us and I would be very sorry to see it disappear. All this other nonsense included with this touted "plus" product is of zero use to me and I am sure many others too.

KISS

If we could continue to give our free data, we would, but we can only keep the general promo going for as long as it's financial viable. We already extended it once in the year, and if we can we'll extend it again. That's for the number crunchers to decide based on the overall financial impact this could have.

Afrihost - Heres a little rule - I give it to you free,

If it isnt broken - dont fix it .....

Use it, dont,,,,
Just something I have noticed on both capped and uncapped services you offer ..... you tend to be your own worst enemy.;)

Sadly some things need to be continually maintained and updated to work correctly. The internet environment changes, there are new protocols and classifications, so network management is an ongoing issue, and there can always be the possibility of unforeseen variables.

They better let us know quickly how much they will be screwing us, so I can cancel this month still (before their billing cycle).

I don't know what you mean by screwing you. If you are referring to the poor performance of DSL, we are working on this and we expect that we are close to a solution, but we'll only know as we monitor performance after our last round of changes.

No but I benefit by being able to keep the double data, which was set to fall away in December?

Yeah - exactly - you just paying R99 more per month.

In my case, I have 3 sims (500mb + 500mb each) split in two different AH accounts.
I don't see value in this + service. Does not help me in anyway - its just more costly

Afrihost - really? Why not focus on returning your DSL products back to their former glory and performance before the rest of your customers start jumping ship and the word of mouth follows. I am pretty sure your success in the past was a simplified product offering with value as opposed to all this bolt-on crap.

These are different teams working on these issues. No work that was done on the Plus product interfered with the improvements to the network.

We don't believe that the launch would have had significant impact on the network, but we've delayed the launch regardless to ask our clients what they feel is appropriate.

The survey did not give me the option to select what I'd be willing to pay. The correct answer was none of the above.

I think it's pretty straightforward that if you don't see value in the product you will not be forced onto it. For clients who'd rather not go for it, everything continues as normal.
