Afrihost Plus pricing and details

Yeah - exactly - you just paying R99 more per month.

In my case, I have 3 sims (500mb + 500mb each) split in two different AH accounts.
I don't see value in this + service. Does not help me in anyway - its just more costly

If you don't opt for the Plus package, you are in exactly the same position you were, there is no downgrade or loss of services.

Actually you are wrong. I only use AH for mobile data and paying R99 to keep my 2 x 5+ 5GB's going is worth it to me.
So your 5+5 will now cost you R396.00
Axxess 6+6 will cost you R 379.00

You choose, I know what I will do I'm currently on 5+5 Mobile as well.

Axxess is doing some really good deals at the moment for mobile data, it's a pity they aren't getting enough air time on MyBB due to their crappy ISP offerings.

I don't know about that, their 100+100 capped is cheaper than AH, with the extra R99pm.

And faster, according to my tests.

I don't think this bolt on option is going to last long. They don't seem to realize that only people interested in this are the high cap users (ADSL and Mobile). Everyone else is moving on or on uncapped accounts. They won't have users to help subsides the cost.

The bolt on isn't a bad idea. But it makes things complicated, and its costing the clients more money. You would thing since we are in a recession, that Afrihost would know most users want value for money. This just isn't any real value.

We debated extensively about the whole bolt-on idea, which is something we've resisted for a while. But we've also wanted to have something for a while that can give clients an extra level of value for just a little more. We think this is a great compromise. We'll do what we can to make this as simple as possible for clients, but clients will get the full benefit.

Not being able you use this across an entire account is a deal breaker

The product will be linked to specific products, though you can link your double data to a different product to your 2 for 1 topups (as I understand the workings of it).

But you can have multiple Plus products if you want to cover more accounts.

However should you need to ever top up the picture changes.

AH 10.5gigs (5+5+.5) = R396 (-R60 for people with streaming service benefit, but lets leave it out for argument sake). Topup 2 gigs (2+2) = 14gigs = R99 extra = R495-00 total EDIT: Wait I think it is R594 I may have halved the double data twice :D
Axxess 12gigs (6+6) = R379. Topup 2 gigs = 14gigs = R220 extra = R599-00 total

I think it is safe to say that this package only benefits higher end mobile data users? Only downside is no data rollover.

Again feel free to check my maths I rushed through it.

Afrihost is becoming like Candy Crush, a product that is supported by DLC.

We're not selling additional content. If you want the benefits, you can get them. If you don't need them, you're all good. I don't think it's really the same thing.

Too much for those extra services.

As I said, this all should be free as this just causes more confusion.

If you add up the potential value, it's definitely worth the price. Just having 500MB of data (for R58 cost) and Simfy already adds up to more than R99 :)

How about doing a survey before launching a product. Don't care about mobile data, 2 for 1 and the simfy music.

We do try to get a sense from our clients, but we felt that with Plus there is something in it for everyone who would opt for it. Since it's also completely optional, clients will vote by whether they sign up or not.

Those are worth zero to me, so I am going to have to switch to Axxess.

+1. The AfriX reps on this forum helped to establish the company as one of us. Fighting the good fight against the Telkom monopoly. Sadly, they seem to have grown too big now.

We're still here, engaging and listening and we'll keep doing our best to bring our clients voices to the people that need to hear them. We've grown, but we're also making sure that we grow in the right ways to never lose our connection to our clients.

lol if the other Afrihost feedback threads are anything to go by then no they don't really pay much attention especially while they are "tweaking" their "network management" to bring "pure internet joy" back "soon".

I think the fact that we've been answering and providing information is proof that we are listening.

If it's not financially viable to keep the double data promo going without customers opting for the bolt-on, you should consider looking at Web Africa's capped business model. Pushing some of the gigs to after hours will change the cost equation quite a bit. You could probably afford to give people even more gigs for the same price.

Another option would be to include extra after hour gigs as a part of the bolt-on deal.

Hey Afriman. Completely on a side note. Have they ever considered a gig a day (2 gigs even) without daily rollover? I mean specifically for Mobile data, but perhaps something similar could work for ADSL who knows.

In other words we essentially get 30gigs a month at most but for a lower cost. But there are days some people won't use the full allowance - if at all. Afrihost takes the winnings.

Just a random thought :) might not work, might be a stupid idea...

I think the point is moot considering that the product has been withdrawn but with those of us with multiple SIMS there needs/ed to be clarity.
