Afrihost Plus+ value-added service suite announced

If it offered Deezer instead of Simfy I would consider it. Simfy sucks, especially on Android devices. The app is crappy. I even got that cheap 3 month special and I have probably used it 3 times max.

No man, you must be confused as the network is fixed and running optimally.
 
So the first time we hear from Gian after two months of abysmal ADSL performance is to tell us that we're going to pay more for the same thing, cleverly spun as an add on? No thanks.

Double data has become completely irrelevant for me anyway as my overall usage has literally halved due to the state of the network. Not much point if you can't actually use the data.

I have a 10mbps line that is effectively a 1mbps line for most of the time. Despite the fact that speedtest occasionally gives a good result (often not), browsing speed seems to be limited, downloads never happen faster than 500-800kbps, international is in the toilet and just about the only thing that works most of the time is streaming, and this is on a capped account.

It feels like I'm on a 1mbps uncapped account, carefully dressed up to look like a capped 10mbps account.

So, no thanks Gian. Right now I think many users are evaluating if they're going to cancel before the deadline, let alone give you more money. You've lost a lot of trust with the whole "we don't shape capped/business ever, but we do 'optimize' certain protocols" spiel which makes me very wary of giving you more money but objectively getting exactly the same service.

If indeed the current problems are due to costs, you would have done a lot better by just explaining the situation honestly and asking for a flat out price increase.

I don't see the value. It would be R99 for double data. The extra 500Mb is redundant if we have double data. Simfy is a waste of time and the rest are things we'd never use.

Completely disagree, when it comes to mobile data can always use more, even if it is only 500MB.

My AH Business line is crawling along at less than 56K. Feels like 1999. I'd pay R29/pm for that.
 
Where is that "Bek vol Tande" Gian - why does he not come on this forum to face the music and address us about the carp product that he currently claims to be "world class"

"Value Added" means YOU(AH) add value for me as a customer. It's not for me to pay extra to get your definition of value... !!!!
I suppose the next great value will be Bonus Gigs after midnight....

btw Plus+ naming sounds like a sanitary pad ... won't then comment on how you see us customers

I suspect this promo would actually benefit Mobile Data users more than ADSL users. ADSL users are nowhere near as bandwidth conscious/stressed.

I might take back what I said initially, let's work it out:

Currently I pay R497-00 for 20gigs of Data (Mainly used on LTE speeds).
I also pay R60-00 for an RDIO subscription. (On a side note these music streaming services are a real winner if you don't pirate - and convenient as heck)

=R557-00

If I pay R99-00 extra for Afrihost+ I can switch over to Simfy. Which essentially means I am only paying R39-00 extra.

For R39-00 extra I get an extra 500meg data. Plus I get to keep the double data promotion. Plus if I need to topup which is very possible given 20gig on LTE speeds it would only cost me R49-50 a gig instead of R99-00 (If they can assure the double top-up on mobile data, I've never been sure about this - their clientzone doesn't state you get 2 for 1 for mobile data on the topup screen frontpage). Thus realizing a greater overall save over and above the R39-00 extra it costs me essentially.

Hell this Afrihost+ might even be worth it at the R149-00 price point. Means I get the same for R89-00 extra. Just depends on my usage how much I might save in the end. In other words if I top up with 2 gigs (4gigs on double) I've saved that money/extra spend and received double the data in the process.

Is the network fixed yet? Im sure Afriman and Afrigenie are now bald headed. Priorities are lacking there if they haven't sorted out the network. I for one am not in support of this premium they are trying to introduce
 
i am currently on a very low tier of Double Mobile data (Think in the region of R49 per month), since i use mostly wifi to download large things.

Thus paying R99 min. more for this will definitely let me jump ship to other data providers again (either higher caps with longer expiry dates for example)

thx but no thx for this plus business (yes i know selling data at half the price is a mess for the marketing budget, but well - sooner or later it will bite you in the butt)
 
The only thing they have left keeping them in the game is Double Data, and when it dies, they die with it.

Why? Just move to Axxess and use their mobile data. It has rollover so you will be scoring that 500MB extra in no time.

Can you help I tried to cancel my Plus+ service on the clientzone and got this reply from

"With regards to your email, I would like to kindly inform you that I have reviewed your account and if you would like to cancel the Afrihost plus service you will be required to log into your clientzone and thereafter select the option 'other services' and thereafter select the option 'Afrihost plus'.
Please kindly note that once you have selected the 'Afrihost plus' option you will have an option which will allow you to de-activate the service on your account."

Why do we have to complain over a forum to get decent service.
I took the Plus+ to get the double ADSL data which we don't need to do now.
 
So today i happen to log into the client zone of Afrihost and i see the Plus settings were reset. I suggest everyone who subscribed check and log a support ticket if it was reset.. this effectively means this month/jan double data will be disabled! i.e. R100 bucks for simify

Gonna see what the resolution is.. can't believe it was reset again :( Ironically only reason i happen to be there was because i was going to get a bigger data package
