Afrihost Plus+ value-added service suite announced

The thing is that all the stuff are already free with our packages, the only thing that is going to cost extra is Simfy. They charge R60 a month so if Afrihost can get the volumes I am sure that they will be able to get it for R50 a month.

At R49 I am definitely in.

If they remove their Double Data bonus on their capped account, I will be going elsewhere.
I'm not paying R99 extra for that privilege.

Ok so the general consensus is that for DSL customers if double data goes, you go with it?

I use afrihost for their mobile data and I would pay R49 - R99 to keep the double data deals. I guess where mobile data is concerned their isn't really a competitor to go to in that range?

For me personally, I won't use the "value added services". Even at R99pm this would almost double what i'm paying now for double of what I'm using. Granted, for some of the higher end deals R100 or R150 is probably not that much more to get double data (which is probably what a large percentage of people will use the deal for), but for the lower end packages, it'll end up being pay-double-get-double...

As echoed by everyone else, the only reason im with Afrihost is for the double data. Without that they are not even remotely competitive and WebAfrica will have a far better offering.

It would seem that way, yes. the majority of other benefits are of little value to most people probably...

The question is, if the service is payable per month, would R99 still be agreeable to everyone? Double Data is also an either/or scenario, you can't have it for both a mobile and DSL account.

AFRIHOST you've been warned. Remove the Double Data promotion and we'll be jumping ship to webafrica or some other ISP.
We won't pay R99 or more for that privilege...don't care about the other services.

The Afrihost Plus+ is mainly intended to add extra value to our clients, and whilst R99 just for double data may seem a bit expensive, I really think all of the extra value that our clients get from Plus+ will make it worth it in the long-run.

Especially when you will get Double Data on your accounts irrespective of whether or not our Directors have enabled Double Data at that time of the month.

I have been using SimFy for a few days now, and I have to say, it is the first music app that I have used that I would actually replace my old-trusted WinAmp.

The catalog of music covered by SimFy is simply insane!

But it's not extra value. It's an extra cost for something that we currently have that will be taken away if we don't pay it. :(

Don't much care for the Simfy thing.

Double data: yes please.
2 for 1: okay.
Extra 500MB mobile: sure

128kbps uncapped? Don't make me laugh
Double turbo charge? Meh.

Value to me: R50.

But it's not extra value. It's an extra cost for something that we currently have that will be taken away if we don't pay it. :(

The Double-Data is a promotion that we are running, and as much as we want to extend it, it must come to an end. The Plus+ program is a way that our Directors have come up with to ensure that our much loved clients continue to get the Double Data.

Well then maybe you need to think about reevaluating your prices on the lower end capped packages. I have an uncapped account with telkom but i have the 20+20 with Afrihost as backup, paying an extra R99 ( it could be more) makes absolutely no sense for me when WebAfrica offer 15 + 30 (offpeak) GB for R79. I couldn't be bothered about a music steaming service either.

So be it, the promotion ends, my support and loyalty ends too.
Webafrica offers me 60GB + 120GB (midnight to 6am) data at R199.
Guess where I'm going in January? I just need to change my downloading habits.

.... Or I give your uncapped business account a try and see what it gets me,
but unfortunately I haven't heard good things about it lately.
I will definitely not pay R199 for a 50Gb account with Afrihost.

It comes down to rands per Gigabyte. That is what capped accounts are about.

Value added services are lost on 99% of users.

As long as you guys are competitive I'll stay. Else, naturally, I'll go where I get the best value rand value per gigabyte. Simple as that...

I don't think it will be as simple as the Double Data simply falling away at the end of December, but until there is an official announcement I cannot actually share the exact details.

Fair enough, but some people like myself (and apparently quite a few other forumites here) don't use any of the other extra services. Regardless of how cool they are, to us they add no additional value.

To put it in perspective. At the moment I'm using a R129 30GB+30GB account. For me to continue using that at say, R50pm extra, it will now cost me R179 pm for 60GB of data. Granted, that's still less than the AH 50GB account @ R199 pm, but at WebAfrica for R149 pm I can get 40GB + 80GB between 00:00 and 6:00. Since I generally schedule my downloads to occur after midnight, this deal actually works out far better for me personally.

I admit that there will probably be many customers that will get a lot of bang for their buck if they actually use the additional services. But don't forget those of us who won't see this as actual additional value.

I'm pretty sure Gian was aware that Afrihost Plus+ would not suit everyone, and I don't think it was his intention that it would be a one-size fits all solution for all of our clients.

We will need to wait until Afrihost Plus+ is launched officially before I can go into real detail about it, and what changes will happen.
