Morning

There are a couple of OLTs that are down in PTA East. Openserve monitoring systems has already logged the outages for technicians to attend.

Curious what others are getting on Usenet, recently moved to Octotel 1Gbps from OpenServe 500Mbps, but SABnzbd is only reporting averages of 63MB/s.
Downloading to an NVMe.

Threading other downloads will saturate my line.
Grabbing across multiple connections from multiple backbones. Any ideas?

@Seeyou has mentioned this before. We have to run some more tests to determine what the root cause of it is.

Is Afrihost still able to provide test accounts on OpenServe?
I'm visiting family who is on Supersonic and the connection isn't what I expect. Trying to convince them to move to Afrihost because I'm very happy with my line in Cape Town. Was hoping to test an Afrihost account to see if it's the ISP.

I'll send the test account via PM.

Hi, is this still ongoing?

What's wrong with the main link?
Hi.

Yes, it is still ongoing.
We had to bypass the traffic because the Vuma pay system broke and was causing clients to get suspended even when they had paid.

Hello.
Unfortunately, not. We cannot pause fibre services.
"Should you cancel your Pure Fibre less than 6 months from activation, or your account falls into arrears, you will be charged a cancellation fee of R999."
This is a pain in Plett, we have fibre available but the local wireless isp offers the ability to pause services. So go with the wireless.

If vuma can do a R5 per day to a shack...

I am sure ISP would offer to pause fibre services if they were able to pause line rental with the FNO.

And line rental with FNOs are on a contractual base of about 24 months, which why some ISPs charge a cancellation penalty.

Indeed a pain in Plett :-) Not sure if you covered with Octotel or Openserv or both but this limitation is definitely FNO side. Milk it is the name of the game.

TCS is definitely the best option in the area if you want to switch on and off :-) if you need extra speed their Radwin kit is brilliant.

Does anyone know who runs the SA Path of Exile server?

Every Friday around lunch time the server starts dropping sessions pretty much continuously, making it unplayable. Almost like some automated maintenance is going on and wrecking the server's resources, causing it to crash/drop connections.
