Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Morning, once again, for the network guru's that are on MFN Afrihost. How often does your public IP change? I'm thinking of requesting a proper non-natted IP, but I'd rather not have to burden the guy hosting our game servers to update his whitelist every day.

I remember something along the lines of the IP rarely changes, only if the mac address of the router or changes? Static IP would have been most ideal, but if I remember they don't offer those on MFN, only Openserve.

I am on MFN Afrihost and my IP almost never changes, only time it has changed for me was when I had to get it reallocated after we were doing tests to resolve issues that was happening in the Eastern Cape

Should only change if MAC address of router changes
 
Getting terrible download speeds on Vuma reach right now for the past 30 mins or so.

On a 100/50 line I’m getting 1mbit down and 50mbit up
 
Afrihost with openserve stil an issue, whatsapp, telegram messages taking forever to send and iptv is struggling whatever mitigation you guys did is not working so good.

Looks like it is. After terrible connection all day. Im now offline lol. According to live chat its due to a damaged cable in my area. Lets see how long it takes them to handle the resolution

That usually is quite quick if it is a damaged cable, if they know it was a damaged cable, their should be a notice about it

We seem to have a slight capacity issue this side. It's not often, but it does happen and when it does it's only in the evenings.

Not the end of the world. I can always switch to LTE if needed.

I have almost full speed at 800 download, wonder if it isn't a JHB issue only, we had it but then it was sorted, they did a optic swap
