Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

What router do you currently have?

Most routers have a 2.4Ghz band Wi-Fi and a 5Ghz band Wi-Fi.
2.4Ghz band is better for long rage and 5Ghz better for speed throughput.

Sound like, to me, you are connected to the 2.4Ghz band.
I have a Tplink ex511 ax3000 Router that came with the package, forgot to mention that all these results are on the 5Ghz band, the 2.4Ghz band barely goes over 30mbps, these tests are all condusted right next to the router for best results. If I can get the speeds to where they should be I will route Ethernet to the upstairs, extended by an additional router

Please let us know if this has been resolved for you.
Would like to know what was this issue...

If you're getting full speed via ethernet, the issue is likely on your side. You've already ruled out a faulty router, so I'd guess the problem lies with the device you're using. Are you running speed tests on multiple devices or just one?

Multiple devices, two cellphones, a laptop and two PCs, all of these previously worked perfectly on a 1000mbps line from my previous property.

Strange. I'm not sure how or why Afrihost would be throttling only your wireless traffic, so I’d still guess the issue is on your side. Update us if you get it resolved.

ISP's can't "manage" Wi-Fi speeds.

Check QoS settings. Check the Wi-Fi channels etc.

Test with another router if available.

@Afrigirl Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but any reason why international is routing via JHB first before heading outbound?

I'm in CPT btw.

Hi. Was there a price increase /package change on Frogfoot recently? I have not received any notification mails about increases, but looking on the site now I am seeing different prices to what I am used to seeing.

Nevermind... I see I frogfoot have different networks depending on where you are.

Hi.

As an existing client, you will receive an email with a link to opt-in for the promo package you qualify for.

Will there be any fee to opt-out or downgrade back to the original speed after the 12 months?

The e-mail doesn't mention anything about this and Vuma is notorious for charging a fee for downgrades.

Hi.

No, fee will be charged for opting out or downgrading. Your subscription fee will be back to normal

:cautious:Vumatel.
Since 2021, we received ownership of the Object number on that address. So, the address has been incorrect since installation, and during the system failure in the past few weeks, the request to change your address was ignored.

Hopefully, there won't be any downtime when they correct the address.
Connection down.

Fourth time I've been kicked off. I only pay R1097 every month.

Good Day Victim

I trust that you are well

My apologies for the inconvenience caused

Upon checking on my end it shows that the line was terminated on Vumatel side ,
We have to place a reconnection order

Should you have any further queries please do not hesitate to revert to us as we're always willing to assist.

Kind Regards
Obakeng

I have escalated with the cancellations and sales team at Vuma.
In business parlance, an escalation actually means a heightened sense of priority and more seniority. After several attempts at this, it seems you guys use the term interchangeably with "I put in the usual query and don't particularly care what comes back".

Send them GPS coordinates
We went through all of just a few weeks ago. Pinpointed directly on erf map they were looking at when one of the call centre kids wasted another hour of time.

Regardless they messed it up on account creation in 2021 and used a random address 5 blocks away.
