Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

We received an upgrade proposal from Google where they want to send us 6 more servers. When we raised the issue about our DBN caches being at 95% utilisation they responded with this.
Clearly GGCs can't run at high util. without impacting end-users lmao

So what's the proposal? They actually gonna upgrade you okes or what? Are those 6 servers coming to DBN or to be distributed at your discretion?

Because that response just sounds like they're fobbing you off, asking you to not bother them.

BTW @AfriNatic

There's an update for the EX511 V2 on the Brazilian TP-Link site. And it seems it's a global hosted version. Version is way ahead of the one you okes gave us.

Haven't updated since it's not my router but....you know, just saying. Would be nice to have newer updates that might fix things. 👀

That is Google. They basically always say don't contact us, we will contact you. The node upgrades are for JHB and CPT. We are reluctant to announce the DBN IP ranges to JHB and CPT because that means DBN cache utilization will drop and our goal is to push it to 100% to force them to send us machines for DBN.

And that little reply about the 511 brazil firmware? 👀

We have custom firmware because we have our tr-069 server set. I will need to discuss internally to see if we can get a firmware update that has our tr-069 set. This is important to us because we are migrating to PPPoE so we would need to move as many clients over to pppoe remotely as we can.

Is there a planned timeline for different FNO's?

@AfriNatic
I've just had a very frustrating experience with one of your support reps via Whatsapp.
I can see that upstream I am not getting assigned my semi static IP via WAN.
The support rep kept wanting to look at my LAN DHCP - totally clueless. Please assist

Hi.

Please drop us a PM with your account details

This is for those who want to host meetings or voice chats. We are hosting a Jitsi Meet server for Afrihost clients. The person starting the meeting must be an Afrihost client, but anyone joining can be on any network.

Hi guys,

Anyone experiencing some slow DNS lookups, with the Afrihost DNS servers?
I get multiple errors where it tells me DNS lookup failed, and then succeeds right after.

Also takes ages sometimes to load a page for the first time.

Not even sure how to troubleshoot this.

Vuma, CPT.
