Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Hi, new line installation here, still waiting for the ONT / line to be activated by ThinkSpeed, the Tp-Link EX511 was sent by Afrihost and received yesterday and it's got certain Wi-Fi details on a piece of paper that came in the box, however when I connected to the router via ethernet cable it was as if it's been reset to factory defaults, it asked me to set an admin password and the Wi-Fi SSID was factory default but the credentials were set to a guest afrihost login. Is the router waiting for the ONT and line to be active at which point it will connect to Afrihost and then configure itself to the predetermined setup?
Hi.

Please configure the router to DHCP and visit login.afrihost.com to complete the activation.

Yes, it uses TR-069 to install the config from the ACS server.
But you can factory reset and set it up manually. They send the routers out like that so that less technical customers can just contact support and then the wifi credentials can be changed remotely.

Thanks I'll do that, will I need any sort of details or credentials to proceed because I don't have any info from the landlord who placed the order with Afrihost.

I will check with the team on our KZN Google Caches .

No, there are no known issues yet. We will request for the EX511 so we can test it and monitor.

As I was writing this reply, a 4K vid just buffered lol

It looks like it has been raised with Google, and our team will meet soon to discuss the issues being experienced.
@AfriNatic will provide more insight once they have concluded the discussions.

We received an upgrade proposal from Google where they want to send us 6 more servers. When we raised the issue about our DBN caches being at 95% utilisation they responded with this.

Please note that GGC nodes can typically run at a very high utilization without any impact to end users. Google will reach out to you when the next node augmentis required so you will not need to reach out to us for augments. You can always reach out to us to discuss special circumstances.Thank you for your cooperation in the GGC program.Kind Regards,The Google Global Cache Team
