Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

100%

And there should be others standing in for them while they are on their well deserved break. As a company, being non-responsive is one tried and tested way of promoting customer dissatisfaction.
I think @Afrigirl has always mentioned that if she is away, we can make use of other Support Channels that Afrihost has.

I have, and did not get much joy from that interaction either.

However, someone on that side is doing some damage control right now, which I appreciate. Hopefully things run smoothly going forward. I am hopeful. :)

So we had cable theft over the weekend. Openserve have fixed the issue but we still have no connection. What now?

Did try dialing PPPoE? Or use the Openserve app to log a fault
Openserve were there most of yesterday replacing the stolen cable. They then left and the CPE still only shows 2 lights. We think they missed replacing the fibre cable running to the box, as we suspect it may be broken but can't test to sure.

Hi.

Do you still have the fault reference?

Sadly, the issue is back, for the 4th time since I switched over to Afrihost on 12 March 2025. It seems that every 3 or so days I get cut off and redirected to the "Update payment details" page. What's going on?

I have updated the ticket (ZWR-885-91066) to let your support staff know that the problem is back.

Kindly let me know if Afrihost is unable to solve the issue and I can make another plan. I've had to fall back to my Afrihost Mobile data each time this issue arises, and I'm going to run out soon. I don't think it's fair that I have to top up my Afrihost Mobile data because this issue, despite occurring several times, remains unresolved.

Hi,

I completely understand the frustrations caused by the service being unavailable, and I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Our Vuma Reach Account Manager is currently in a meeting with Vuma, but I will update you as soon as I have feedback.

I look forward to your feedback.

Vuma has logged the issue with Aex for us.
Right, so, my first 1GB of auto-topup for Afrihost Mobile data kicked in last night. I hold Afrihost responsible for not being able to resolve this issue that has occurred 4 times since 12 March. Kindly reimburse the funds, and supply enough mobile data for me to maintain connectivity until you finally do get the issue resolved.
Thank you.

My 1GB auto-topup is finished. I've added another 10GB topup. Kindly reimburse that as well. It's not ideal running off mobile data (I've had to resort to a normal phone call meeting with my boss this morning instead of whatsapp), but at least you are able to provide backup connectivity while you resolve the issue with the fibre account.
Thank you.

**Notice**

On the 9th of April at 2am we will be migrating the @Afrihost..co.za Openserve realm to the new BNG's. This migration is to move off the legacy Telkom IPC model onto the new Openserve L2TP model.

We do not expect major impact however due to fundamental changes we can not use the existing IP ranges. Clients might see new sessions with natted IPv4 addresses. Ipv6 prefix length will change and now include a bigger prefix.

In layman's terms, does this mean that you will be implementing CGNAT on Openserve?

If yes, how will I be able to overcome the port-forwarding problems associated with CGNAT?

"As per our policy, unfortunately, we do not reimburse mobile data usage during periods of downtime, as it falls outside the scope of the service terms."

Lesson learnt. I've asked them to cancel the subscription and release the line with immediate effect. Time to find a fibre service provider that, you know, provides service.
