Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Hi.

Yes, it will work again. As @AfriNatic mentioned, we will soon be moving all our providers to PPPoE.
Unfortunately, there is no timeline yet.
Hi @Afrigirl @Afri team,

Does this move include MFN because the IPV6 PD on MFN is currently not working for me, v4 lease is obtained but no prefix for v6. This issue is only present when I switch from DHCP to PPPoE , on DHCP everything is fine other than the odd routing where v4 needs to be up for IPv6 routing to be possible

Hi.

The move will be for all FNOs. We are aware that IPv6 is not enabled for Nokia ONTs if you are on DHCP.

I'm not using a Nokia ONT ,I have working v6 via DHCP but none when I switch to PPPoE, can you please send me a DM so I can share info required to fix this.

Is there a reason why you switched to PPPoE on MFN?

"As per our policy, unfortunately, we do not reimburse mobile data usage during periods of downtime, as it falls outside the scope of the service terms."

Lesson learnt. I've asked them to cancel the subscription and release the line with immediate effect. Time to find a fibre service provider that, you know, provides service.

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic @AfriGuy

It's been 40+ hours with no response on my ticket ZWR-885-91066. I need you to please release my line with immediate effect. Thank you.

Hi.

The request has been queued and will not allow for an immediate release.
Hi.

Thank you for the response.
So it seems unfortunately my line is stuck on Afrihost delivering no service, forcing me to pay out of pocket for more Afrihost Mobile data to maintain connectivity. I guess that's at least a win for Afrihost Mobile. Yay.

I'm just wondering, though, why was 1 April (edit: automatically) chosen for the "Requested star..." date? Is it not possible to choose the date when requesting the cancellation?

No, we cannot select a specific date for cancellation. Depending on when the cancellation request is made, we are required to provide a 30-day calendar notice. Alternatively, the cancellation will take effect at the end of the month in which the cancellation request was made.

Noted. Thank you.

In layman's terms, does this mean that you will be implementing CGNAT on Openserve?

If yes, how will I be able to overcome the port-forwarding problems associated with CGNAT?
Still no feedback on the above questions

@Afrigirl is there capcity issues with the links between Cape Town and JHB, My logal speeds are 100% but international and server in JHB. On discord/Any Game using Server outside of CPT its fine for 10min then almost drops completely for couple seconds and then fine again for 10m or so. It been doing this for weeks now.

Hi.

No, there were no confirmed capacity issues.
You could share some tracert or pingplotter test to those servers so we can see where the loss starts.

Eish! Maybe I'm invisible? Or maybe nobody knows?
