BTW was there an issue provisioning IPv6 on MFN the last week or two...? No matter what I did the router was allocating ULA prefixes (fd00: ) to all devices.

The router itself was showing 0-length prefix on LAN side. Only WAN-side IPv6 address allocated.

This was why I wanted TR-069 off, since IPv6 hadn't been working for a week or so, and I thought it's the ACS moving to DynIP that was causing the issue. I mean that was one issue, but not THE issue.

Couldn't get IPv6 reflecting on my devices no matter what I did, eventually just chalking it down to a router bug or something not disabling ULA despite it being off in the web interface.

I check my router now... /64 block allocated. Public IPv6 working. I did literally nothing...

Hi.

Was this on PPPoE or DHCP?
The issue is on DHCP, while you have a Nokia ONT, but if you switch to PPPoE, IPv6 should work.

Yes PPPoE, which I know is required for IPv6 on MFN (been following the Afrihost IPv6 thread).

That's why I'm asking if there was an issue on your side. Despite PPPoE being set up correctly on the router, no IPv6 block was being allocated, even though I was getting a WAN-side address.

All of yesterday I just couldn't get IPv6 allocated, then magically today I see a /64 block has been assigned.

To be clear, everything is working now, but I just wanted to know if there was an issue your side that you guys know of?

As for our new BNG's we have a few tickets open with the vendor to iron out some minor bugs and they are working on a release for us.

Currently I'm running my Metro Fibre 1Gbps line on the new BNG on PPPoE to see how it goes. So far been pretty stable even on nat v4 and v6 /56 prefix

Openserve migration to the new BNG's will be tried again next week Tuesday the 17th at 2am. We will monitor and if we see any issues we will rollback.

As before clients might get natted IPs during the migration window.

Will we be able to request Public IP allocation should all go as planned and the cut over is successful?

Does Afrihost have any plans on offering IPv4 subnets for multiple Static IP's directly via PPPoE?

I believe this will be technically possible once migration to the new BNG's is complete.
 
Good morning @Afrigirl, my internet has become very slow since yesterday morning. I tried rebooting, waiting and connecting directly via Ethernet but it's working at around ~3 Mbps:

EDIT. It's once again slow. I switched it off overnight. It seems to be working intermittently at the usual speed. Thanks

Is anyone else still experiencing slow international speeds (inconsistent performance in general) since the WACS cable issue was announced late May/early June? My latency is on average around 25ms-40ms higher than it should be - with sporadic with packet loss.

I know the repairs were supposedly completed ahead of schedule, but I'm still experiencing strange behaviour across all platforms. Youtube, DSTV, Netflix all buffering (and eventually reverting to lower quality streams like 480p - which oftentimes doesn't even make a difference with load times), mybroadband pages not properly loading before eventually just timing out (tested with Chrome, Edge, Firefox), sites like Reddit taking much longer to load than usual, etc.

I'm on Openserve (Pretoria east region), and have experienced this issue with two ISPs (Telkom and Afrihost). I've tried different DNS addresses (1.1.1.1, 8.8.8.8, 169.1.1.1, 105.225.0.1 ,etc) but nothing has helped. Raw speed tests still perform 100%, but everything else is performing terribly.

It's a real head scratcher.

The fact you referred to local served services like Youtube, DSTV and Netflix is a clear indication you have local packet loss so probably fibre network

Yes I am experiencing the same issue on the international side, I sent a message to afrigirl as I think its the upstream provider having issues

Oh I see. I had a feeling it was some type of network congestion issue (if that's a thing) since it occurred after 8 for the entire day. It was fast during the early hours only. Anyway, thanks for your help
