Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Never been as bad as it is tonight. Operating on mobile data
Out of desperation I tried something someone on one of the other threads was told to do by support yesterday.

Turned off my ONT for over 20 minutes and the packet loss is not as bad as before. Speeds are better as well.

I don't know what is happening but my London ping is really good atm, if I remove my local ping difference I would be sitting at 158ms.

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic are there frogfoot speed changes in the pipeline? I saw mention of 30 going to 40 elsewhere on the forum.

Hi

Yes clients will be notified soon. Dev locked the ability to do package changes to complete the changes on our side. Once Dev moved clients on to the new packages branding will email all clients accordingly.

Notice:

We are getting augmented capacity for our Johannesburg Google cache servers. This requires a cluster re-config. We have scheduled this to start at 1am on Tuesday 31st of Jan. This process can take 24 to 48 hours and these caches will not serve traffic during this time. We have made provisions for the traffic to be moved to other caches in CPT and DUR and we don't expect an interruption of services but intermittent YouTube streaming might happen during this time.

I'm sure you noticed but there is increased latency to EU.

There is a shunt fault on SAT-3. Traffic is rerouted over EASSy for the time being while Openserve vendors attend to the cable fault on SAT-3

Vuma line went down at midnight on the dot on the 25th and support has been unable to assist after advising me to reset the router etc. etc. They logged a ticket logged with Vumatel. Line is still down and no feedback yet.

@AfriNatic @Afrigirl please could someone assist I have PM'd you both as well with the ticket reference

Mine jumped back up the 24th but it's completely flat for the last 30 hours, 187ms.

Yes the shunt fault on SAT-3 happened on the 24th. Traffic is rerouted until that is fixed. Latency should be stable but a bit higher than normal. Once the cable is repaired the traffic will be moved back.
