Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Hi.
I am trying to get Vuma to come onsite and test. They keep telling me that the losses are within range on their end. It has been mentioned to them that there is more than one client that is experiencing packet loss in the area.

Hi @AfriNatic, they rocked up at my place with no appointment and I was not home to let them test. Please ask them to come again, and it would be nice if they called ahead so I can make sure I am there.

Hi

We don't do static IP's on Octotel but since it's DHCP it's wan mac address bound so unlikely to change unless we make some ip subnet changes or you change the router.

We have build in ddns which you can also use.
Basically wanting to avoid the CGNat to access my services at home.

@AfriNatic @Afrigirl

The technicians came onsite today (again with no appointment) but I managed to get away from work so they could test. They only checked that the physical line is fine, and said they will have to escalate on the packet loss and instability issue and will need to send another team to test. The ticket is not closed. Please follow up on this when you are able to.

What is going on when I lose all download speed, but still keep all my upload speed?

@AfriNatic quick question. Does afrihost charge the full setup fees when moving houses? I'm planning to switch from my current ISP to afrihost but I will be moving next year March and just want to find out if it's better to switch now or when I move. I'm currently on openserve but I'm not sure if the new address will be openserve or another FNO.

We only charge install fees on certain FNO's

We have a fixed R999 cancellation fee if you cancel within 6 months. This is waived if you relocate and sign up for fibre again. If you are covered by an FNO that we cover the install and activation fees for there are no up front costs unless you opt for router delivery which is a fixed R249 delivery fee.

Perfect, thank you. About 99% sure the new address will be covered by either openserve or vumatel as those are the FNO's in the area I'm looking at which afrihost does offer free installation on :thumbsup:.
