Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

I'm not seeing any notices.

Have you tried a different server hosted in Cape Town?
Ya, it ranges from 5-25 Mbit down, depending on the server. I noticed when things started feeling sluggish and then only being able to pull 200 KB/s from Github.

No biggie though, I can still stream fine right now.
I'm in Jeffreysbay, for what it's worth.

MTN PE might not be the best server to test as it will hairpin Rondebosch and then Tygervally back to MTN Datacentre in PE. I will see if there is any feedback from MetroFibre of an issues.
Normally got full speed on it, will try on CPT servers

Speeds seem fine now, ping is slightly higher from usual 14, but really no difference tbh
I have also seen my local pings to be about 10ms more for a while in discord and games, using warp brings it down back to the normal ping though but does not seem to be a massive issue.

Not aware of any issue with our speedtest server? What issues are you picking up?
Constantly poor performance. Thought it was a temp thing, but its been a while now.

Speedtest to Afrihost Server

Speedtest to any other local server

I can replicate this all the time.

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic - how long do fibre line migrations usually take? If I cancel with my current ISP and get an early release of the line - how do I communicate this with AH so you can claim the line and activate me?

I was told via your Whatsapp support it can take anywhere up to 72 business hours - but in the past migrations have been same day. I'm trying to avoid being without internet for more than a couple of hours as I work from home.

Hi. Who is the FNO of the Fibre line?

From different lines? I haven't noticed any issues with the server and we have a few tests on 1Gbps lines set up for testing to it and I don't see the degraded speeds.

Octotel accepts the order at any time even if the current ISP is still active.

Octotel will then contact you via phone or email to approve the migration. As soon as you approve it change over is quick. If you opt for the end of the month it will happen then if you opt for immediate it can happen after you confirmed with Octotel.

Gotcha. Although if Octotel switched me over and AH hadn't activated me I'd still be without connection I'd presume. Is there an automated system your side that picks up when a line is released for a pending order?

Essentially what I'm after is the process to follow. Do I cancel existing ISP, place AH order and ask for immediate migration and wait for the confirmation, or..?
