Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

You do have the option but only in the voice chat settings itself. I see that a couple of my friends have high ping as well and they're on different ISPs. So definitely something on discords side.

Okay. Did you move your line back to Afrihost

Currently on a test account with you guys :) been enjoying the net so far, no real disconnects for over almost 2 weeks besides today where I had around 6 in a row but I think there was an area problem? Most likely going to move over at the start of next month. My cancellation with CISP is on the 31/06

Ohh okay, I saw that now. The Fibre Ops team assisted with a test account.

Did you try PPPoE also to see if that works or also causes disconnects?

Did try to connect over PPPoE but it refuses to authenticate, so I gave up. DHCP working well, so I am happy.

Still got loss and quite a bit of jitter.
It was clear until midnight. Don't really know what happened there. But if I do get the PPPoE to wouldn't I still get drops? With CISP I was on PPPoE and had multiple drops everyday just less loss obviously.

Yes. The dreaded lost-carrier and re-auth.

Curious what/if any are the advantages of this other than just PPPoE didn't work for you. Never had that need to use anything else other than PPPoE

I don't really know tbh. Vuma Villages is a nightmare of a FNO. It's literally been over a year of non-stop issues with them. I was with Afrihost from last year March, had no problems until June. Packet loss was a huge problem. @AfriNatic tried his best to help me out but couldn't get it fixed. Moved over to CISP, packet loss was gone but I then had non-stop connection drops everyday. Now I'm moving back over to Afrihost and the packet loss seems to be gone and there are way less disconnects than I had with CISP. Wish they would actually just fix the network or just move us over to their normal Vuma network.

We made some changes to improve traffic to Unitas Global which is mostly used for Apex Legends servers in EU. Please test and see if there is any improvement. The biggest improvements would be for KZN and Western Cape clients.

Hi
Here is the MRT from last night, forgot to post it yesterday.

The ping remained high for him. Is 195-210 normal latency to League of Legends on AH?

You can try the Gaming PPTP server.

Using Durban PPTP drops latency for Gauteng clients to around 183ms or so

Will give it a try, thanks.

Hi all .. can a few people share their ping responses to 37.244.28.101 using either winmtr, pingplotter, tracert or just a ping ms .

Im with mweb now and the line has been extremely bad for more than a month from cape town, making it nigh on impossible to play anything.

Thanks.

What does this test look like through your VPN from JHB?

It's pretty dire.

Our transit providers like Openserve and Liquid Telecoms need to reach Blizzard through a tier 1 providers because of a policy that gets applied by all transit providers. They do not peer with networks that they are a customer of or their customer's customer so the only way for us to reach Blizzard and Riot Games is via a Tier 1 providers. Cogent from JHB or OIpenserve > Level 3 and Liquid > NTT
