Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

That's a bit difficult as I only have a Macbook Pro with a Mikrotik router

No ethernet port, and will need to first buy an adapter
@Afrigirl Google Meets is really really bad via Afrihost/Frogfoot. But via Afrihost/MTN (5G) things are perfect.

Are there fundamental routing changes between the two connections?

@Afrigirl Is there any issue at the moment with Frogfoot in Tableview?

I'm experiencing some intermittent disconnects

L2TP connection between CPT <> GRJ died at the around the same time as the latest netwatch log entries:

CPT: Afrihost
GRJ: Cool Ideas

Cool Ideas are also an EchoSP customer now which means traffic between Afrihost and Cool Ideas is transferred within EchoSP or if Cool Ideas do not want that option via one of their transit providers.

Can you do a traceroute to see what the route looks like?

There are essentially no differences except for how the traffic gets to our network in Teraco.

I'm not entirely sure what IP I should trace to, seeing it's a Google Meets call. However, I ran a continuous ping to 8.8.8.8 and saw no loss apart from the ping log I posted earlier, which happened earlier in the day.

Just so bizarre, as traceroute from Mikrotik is squeaky clean

Any chance of feedback from Vuma on time to fix?

Hi @Afrigirl , do you have an update on the vuma villages outing that's affecting midrand?
It's been hours and no fix

Could just be a Google issue. We have a PNI with Google in JHB and when I look at the PNI and our regional google caches they look to be performing really well. Losses are pretty low.

Multiple fibre breaks between PTA and JHB on Old JHB road due to construction. Traffic is being rerouted to alternative paths which may increase latency until the main NLD is repaired.

@AfriNatic I placed an order for fibre on the weekend for migration of a MFN line. Currently with Rocketnet, ending at the end of the month. Is there anything else I need to do? My order reference number is FTTX318992.

Thanks :)

When your current ISP service stops. Let us know and send us the fsan number starting with CXNK so we can ask MetroFibre activations team to complete the migration.

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic
Is there anything that we can do about this issue? Internet randomly drops and then comes back after couple minutes but it's incredibly frustrating.
Paying so much and it's not unreasonable to expect at least stable internet.

We are working with the Vuma team on a solution. Found a possible loop in the Wadeville OLT that might be causing the intermittent drops on Vuma Villages Gauteng.

Thank you. I hope this can be resolved soon. These drops are incredibly disruptive.

Then I'm pretty sure it's my Frogfoot line:

I can't believe that both pings to Cloudflare and Google with both endpoints being in two separate locations can fail at the same time.

Should I go ahead and log a support ticket via Clientzone?
