Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread Part 2

Hi

Due to multiple transoceanic cable faults, certain services are severely impacted. We are working to route traffic as best we can with the available routes we have.

Currently, we have enough capacity still online however if any further impacts occur on the remaining subsea cable systems this situation might change.

We will share updates once more information becomes available.

60/60 Line running this bad. I can only assume capacity has been reached?

EDIT: Cloudflare WARP to the rescue

Looks like the Openserve transit to Europe is congested. We haven't reached any limits.

Investigating if we can move traffic around.

Yeah, downspeed from UK is full, but trying to hit Munich or Paris, 1.5 - 2mbps

Ok, then whatever that 32% loss is, has it got to do with the Cable faults being reported or something else?
As quoted from inet,

"ICMP pings usually have the lowest priority across a network end-to-end. Therefore, if any router along the path is saturated with packets, then the ICMP ping is likely to be the first to get dropped by that router. Regular applications may exhibit no packet loss; yet, the ping tests will show packet loss."

As the loss does not continue through to the last hop, no issues.

So the answer would be yes and no depending on how busy cloudflare routers are

We moved some traffic around last night. We will monitor during the evening peak to see if there is any improvement.

Latency and speeds have been looking really good on all our probes. Equiano and EASSy links are performing well.

Please let us know if you face any issues.
