Quick question, why would your routers be so behind on firmware version?

I did a check and I see the latest version for the Hardware version R1 is 3.0.1 but it is dispatched with version 1.0.0

Automatic update also points to a URL that does not show any updates available.

Difficult to see what the change log is between the versions, I originally updated because whenever I put the WiFi under load it would always reset.

Did anyone else notice this, might have been mentioned earlier but difficult to search on mobile.

It depends on when the stock was procured and shipped. Since we give the product away for free, we tend to bulk buy so we don't have a stock out situation.

It also depend on the manufactors policies - they may flash devices with the original build and then require customers to update their firmware.

@AfriMan Guys, this is not pure internet joy. Twitch non stop buffers.
This is on OpenServe 100/50 in Durban.

Think it was a temporary blip, lasted for about 30 minutes, but twitch seems to be okay for now, but the speedtest still not great. Will shout if it rears its ugly head again.

So my uncle and my parents live in adjacent suburbs with Frogfoot Fibre, my parents are on Home Connect now and it's a standard PPPoE connection; I went to help my uncle set up his Frogfoot fibre installed yesterday but there is some kind of fault, while checking things out I noticed that the Afrihost modem WAN is set to DHCP, when I asked AH Whatsapp support they said the only network they do PPPoE on is Openserve. I asked if this is an AH thing because my parents have FF with PPPoE on Home Connect and they said they did not know (in fact a friend of mine lives not too far away from here also FF with Web Africa and uses PPPoE)

Long story short - anyone on Frogfoot with AH pure fibre - is it really just DHCP? I'm swapping my parents over to AH shortly so would be interested to find out.

We do DHCP with pretty much all the providers except Openserve. It makes the process more seamless.

Some providers do PPPoE with other ISPs, even though they do DHCP with us though.

Streaming a fortnite stream in 1080p, seems pretty good to me.

If you're on Openserve, please run a traceroute. Might be some congestion on the local network - especially since it's still running on PPPoE via IPC.

Ok interesting, thanks

hello @AfriMan, i recently moved onto the purefibre product and so far i'm pretty happy, speeds are great.

i just wanted to know of what the possibility is of getting a static ip from you guys?

id also like to know when you will be supporting ipv6 alongside ipv4?

Yeah happened a few minutes ago. NOC is on it. Outage on Liquid Telecom

Also. Can't load anything international, FFXIV disconnected and won't load, Youtube and reddit still working remarkably enough but MyBroadband is loading extremely poorly. Took forever just to be able to post.

See a lot of complaints about Seacom too. Maybe Seacom cable issue again.

Just restart your modem, it fixes it for a couple of mins.

Doubtful its any sort of real issue, most likely just afrihost trying out new shaping crap or something. Same old.
