So this is Afrihost Support after about 3 weeks of back and forth emails about bad service when it comes to twitch and iptv services internationally this is the final reply

Thank you for your e-mail.

My apologies for the late reply Kindly note that once a connection leaves our network/datacentre we have no control over the overall experience.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to improve your connection experience to international sites.

Have a great day further:)

I am seriously considering cancelling my service with Afrihost as soon as my 6months lapses to avoid too many cancellation fees

I don't have the whole context of the initial query etc, but that doesn't sound right. Although technically we can't account for how destination hosts optimise their experience, we definitely do have an influence on the experience in terms of how we route, etc. Also, if we have a significant number of clients having a poor experience, we can engage the host and see what can be done (i.e. local caching, etc) as we do with Netflix, Facebook etc.

Can you please send me some more info on PM?

Anybody experience any issues using smartdns VPN service on Afrihost fibre?

Whenever I connect to their Jhb based server I can never get any data throughput. If I change to an international server then it works?

Any feedback on this?

Based in PE. Any issues for anyone on openserve fibre? My 100mb line is getting 17mb download only today (upload is fine at over 40mb). Switched ont+router off, got 80mb down. Tested few minutes later and its back to 17mb. (all above is on lan cable). Switched all devices and pc's off, tested on cell phone and i got 17mb download still. Turned vpn on via london and getting 70mb download.

Looks like something is wrong in PE though. How can vpn be 3x better than normal connection?

Will pm you the ticket number might be the easiest

@AfriMan

Correct me if I am wrong. If I take out the 100Mbps Fiber on Frogfoot for R875 and not take the option for the router, the R5000 credit will cover the installation as well as 4 months payments?

Openserve PE - not even getting 50% of my speed.... 30-40 Mbps Max - Anything going on ?

No issues for my 200Mbps Pure Fibre on Openserve in PE. Normal speed tests, haven't noticed any impact on real-time services. I'm in Walmer.

Hi @AfriMan
I am trying to setup my WiFi router as per the email I received from your Tech Support person. I logged into the router, and added PPPOE profile and inserted the username and password into the router; left everything else the same. The connection was established and green ligth was on on the dashboard under profile configuration--connected. I immediately received an SMS from Afrihost congratulating me for getting connected and activating my line.

However, when I attach devices to the WiFi, the connection says "secured, no internet". the WiFi signal on Windows 10 system tray des not have any errors--and I am unable to browse. Not even ClientZone.

What am I doing wrong? Please can someone assist me in setting up my Afrihost connection on D-Link DIR-825 AC1200?

Thanks

S

Anyone here to help?? Afrihost support is closed for night.

After setting up a new connection using ethernet cable all settings were accepted and configuration worked.. Connection light is green. But when trying to connect to the internet I get this dlink error "connection to internet is off"

Does this mean that afrihost has not activated the account yet??

Client Zone on my phone app using mobile data shows all systems are working... And there was a spike in data use...

But I am now frustrated. Can't gain access to internet on any device either via ethernet or Wi-Fi.

Please can anyone help me get out of this conundrum

Hey there

Totally understand your concerns. We do definitely need to troubleshoot, but monitoring for a week doesn't sound like it will help us isolate the cause :(

Drop me a PM please - let me see what I can do on my end :(

@AfriMan having issues again. Any feedback from your troubleshooting?
