I hope you were testing with an SA server? International servers are pointless when the whole point of a VPN is to NOT connect internationally.

I'm seeing perfectly normal latency with Windscribe. Their District/Afrihost server is performing the best for me, and I see the best results with their Chrome extension (used within the new Edge browser) rather than the desktop app. The extension is way faster for some reason.

I was indeed on their SA server.

Actually @waylander , while you're here, any idea why it is that Warp has the single point of access in JHB rather than another one in CPT?

It has to do with your ISP, as Cloudflare uses anycast or all their services. I suspect because the western cables are down and everyone's going via East, some ISPs are routing via JHB to the east coast. I know before the cable incident Afrihost did use Cloudflare's CPT location.

Maybe @AfriMan can assist here.

Nope, was like this even before the cable died.

Try change your DNS settings to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1, maybe it cold help?

When you're connected to CPT, can you tell me the address and port of the endpoint you're connected to? I can try specify that in the .conf file and see if it connects me to CPT instead.

I see the .conf file allows specification of the endpoint with
Endpoint = engage.cloudflareclient.com:2408

If someone could tell me the IP address + port the CPT server resolves to, I could try replacing it with that, if that works.

  2     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  165-73-101-65.ip.afrihost.co.za [165.73.101.65]
  3     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  169-1-21-1.ip.afrihost.co.za [169.1.21.1]
  4    18 ms    19 ms    18 ms  vlan1424.terjhb-igw1.net.echosp.link [102.67.176.16]
  5    22 ms    20 ms    21 ms  cloudflare.ixp.joburg [196.60.8.198]
  6    18 ms    18 ms    18 ms  162.159.192.2

It's anycast... like how 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 will resolve to the "closest" node known.
