Afrihost inconsistency is not worth the trouble... going to ditch them . **** service ! I regret leaving cool ideas where I had none of this crap !
Hey Vicari0
We are aware that there is currently problems with international traffic. This is due to a problems on the cables we make use of to send and receive international traffic. This problem is causing increased latency and slow speeds when accessing international servers and data. Engineers are attending to the problem and hope to have it resolved soon

don't worry, they'll be doubling the throttling next week.

My connection just went for a ball of sh*t, even local, can barely manage 2mbps. Is it just me?

Edit: local's fine again - international completely borked.
Hey Seeyou,
Two of the undersea cables (WACS and SAT3) have suffered breaks. We’re working together with our suppliers to secure an alternate international path ASAP.We understand that you need your internet now more than ever. This is our top priority. Thanks for your patience.

@AfriMan I downloaded over 200GB of games yesterday on XBOX gamepass, today my general downloads are slow.... My brother who is on cool ideas and friend who is on Afrihost are getting full speed

Not to mention I am 200Mbps Purefibre - Openserve

So please tell me if you guys are shapping me ? If this is the case I will be moving ISPs @AfriFella

Aah, remember the days of Afriman and the lengths he went to for customer service. Now we get a canned response pasted 15 times in response to every complaint. Crazy how a single person can influence your perception of a company.

Ah I see

Well Afrihost must be re look at how they are peering... Cool Ideas seem to be fine well at least my brother says so....

terrible lag on WoW tonight...
Hey Naks, I am so sorry about the lag. Seems that there is a cable break issue that is causing the lag.
We're rerouting traffic managing our international traffic across the alternate paths to make sure we keep packet loss at bay and improve the experience for all our clients.

@*#$@#&%

So another 2 month wait for the cable break to be fixed, and garbage internet during the lockdown. My downloads were coming down at 670KB/sec this morning. Thoroughly regretting not risking the transfer during the lockdown. And not a word from AH or even any indication they're aware of it. WTF happened to you guys, @AfriMan ?
I am so sorry that you were not notified about the cable break issue. We're rerouting traffic managing our international traffic across the alternate paths to make sure we keep packet loss at bay and improve the experience for all our clients. Hey Treschen, Additional capacity from Seacom is up and we've got traffic on it.

Definitely cancelling my Afrihost asap. F**k this.
Hey Bewlen, I understand that your experience with us has been poor and I am so sorry about that. The issue is caused by undersea cables (WACS and SAT3) that have suffered breaks. This issue is affecting most ISP's in SA. Additional capacity from Seacom is up and we've got traffic on it.

@AfriMan - Could your guys sort out the London routing pretty please? Unplayable online gaming since that cable went down.
Hey Shaun108, I am so sorry that your gaming experience is not desirable due to the cable break issue, we have bought additional capacity to alleviate the issue.

Ah beautiful. Afrihost is still stuffed for my Pure Fibre, but Windscribe's Afrihost location is performing great suddenly.

Without Windscribe:

With:

So there is capacity, just not for residential users.
The issue is affecting international traffic but should be resolved tomorrow.

Hey Treschen, would you please drop me a PM with your clientzone username so I can have a quick look?

Also have a client with the VPN connection to local Telkom fibre host issue. Please investigate AFRIHOST!
Hey Franna, I am so sorry that you are experiencing connecting issues on your VPN. Please confirm the VPN you are using.

We understand about the international traffic, but how do you explain THIS!????

@AfriFella
Could you explain why if I test with an Openserve test account, the speeds are ok, but not using my Afrihost account?

With Afrihost account the download is 1MB/s, but with Openserve it is 25MB/s.

I used ftp://ftp-test.telkomadsl.co.za/ and a 512MB file.

Telkom ftp is surely local?
