Hi microsoftword, I am sorry to hear about the poor speeds, I have asked our fibre support to attend to this ticket ASAP. It should be logged to our upstream provider to address shortly.

thank u i look forward to the feedback

Anyone else see a dropped connection now?

i got a response (very quickly!)

Good Afternoon [redacted]
Trust you are well

Thanks for the mail and apologies for the inconvenience caused on your fibre line.

I have looked at your account and I have checked the Openserve side on the line and all the configurations are correct. If you are haing slow speeds when testing directly to the router, We are gonna need you to connect directly to the ONT ( Openserve Device ) and create a broadband connection via your laptop. Once that is connected you will be able to run a speed test to get the correct speeds you are getting from the Openserve side on the line. If the speeds are slow please can you forward a screen shot of the results so I can follow up with Openserve.

If you need anything further please do not hesitate to call or send a mail and we will gladly assist in whatever your queries may be, Alternatively you can contact the whats-app team and they will provide you assistance at that time.

Kind Regards

will test tonight and see

@AfriNatic

i just connected to the white box via cat5e and noticed the port negotiated at 100mbps i know for a fact my networking card and cable do gigabit when connected to my switch but when connected to the white box im limited to 100 mbps duplex which seems to be the issue. i sent the screenshots and such to support but i am confident this is the issue

Try to change that from Auto to 1Gbps and see what happens.

That is your issue why is the ONT not giving 1Gbps. I assume you did try to restart it? Try using another ethernet cable.

i tried forcing 1gbit full duplex but the port refuses

tested two known working cables, on my router and computer, all devices negotiate 1000mbit on the switch, but not on the ont so by deduction the ont is the issue, but i think it's software defined ?

line was reset and back to full speed low latency thank you afrihost for the quick response so late at night!

Try long pressing the RESET button on the ONT. See if a reset and power cycle will help otherwise you need to let Afrihost report the line as an ONT issue and let Openserve come and swap it out.

Your not alone, Youtube buffering constantly on 100mb fibre.
Hey. The line isn't the problem. We've received word that Google is currently experiencing issues and they're looking into it. This will affect most Google Services.
