Hi Nibiru, I'm really sorry to hear that your issue has gone on this long. I went over the ticket ID you quoted and see that you copies the results and pasted them. Can you rather send a screenshot of your results, a screenshot reveals a lot more details, like the connection type, dates and times. Please attach the results on the same ticket and I will get our network team to have a look urgently.

Hi

Please see inbox

EDIT: (if it helps anyone else with a similar issue, look at pictures 6-8) - this happened during a department zoom meeting and I ended up rejoining the meeting on my mobile data)

Embarrassing for a 100/100 fibre connection to avg 46ms on local ping test with almost 2000 packets sent. Not to mention constant drops through the day. ZZZ

Hi

It will have to be so many screenshots. The drops happen every so 15 mins. I cant take screenshots showing the whole connection ping plotter between 9-11am.

If I were to run a pingtest and tracert right now for only 30 hoops / 15 sec etc it wont show any errors. But my line does drop on random occasions and the 20-2000ms spikes which also freezes the whole connection.
That's not a problem, they prefer having too much than too little. I can imagine this being really frustrating not being able to hold a stable connection so I would also like to see this fixed as quickly as possible. Please let me know once it's done to so that I can get them to take a look.

Did you have any other device connected at that point?

Hi. I have sent results to you and started another ping run to www.afrihost.co.za, I will stop it after I notice the first few drops and then send to you, and my ticket email thread.

anyone know how to access your mikrotik routers provided by afrihost?

Hi harties, can you please be more specific so that I can help? What are you trying to do?

I realised the built-in wifi is on and would like to turn it off to remove the wifi interference with my current router

Hi Harties, thank you for getting back to me. I don't quite comprehend this but I will try to assist as far as my understanding. Are you referring to the build in WiFi on your laptop vs a WiFi adaptor?

Hi,

Been struggling with AH Fibre Internet today (Metrofibre). Actually have not really been impressed with Afrihost and Metrofibre at all since I connected a week ago.

The Line speed is really great, when it works, runs around 35MB upload and download with 5ms ping.

Issue is that the line is not consistently and reliably functional . There are regular packet loss and often have to "Wait" for a website/page to refresh or load, especially in the "Live" apps such as Teams, Webex and Zoom. Generally the buffered apps/services such as video and audio work fine.

Compared to the Telkom 10MB ADSL which runs consistently day and night at around 9.5MB download and 0.8MB upload with a consistent 35ms ping. I very rarely (Maybe once a month) had issues and then it only lasted a few minutes, whereas the AH/MFN Fibre is regularly having issues throughout the day and night.

Really very disappointed with the "Fibre" experience which theoretically is meant to be far superior in all aspects not just the speed but reliability and consistency.

He wants to disable WiFi on the Mikrotik router since it interferes with his own router's WiFi

I don't remember seeing Afrihost supplying mikrotik routers at all. Afrihost supplies a D-Link router. So not sure where the Mikrotik router came into the mix.

Ja, thought the same , because I have 2 of those D-Link ones and have never seen AH with Mikrotik. Even googled it before responding :) Anyway.. just cleared up the poster's requirement (I think) :)

I also experienced constant packet drops on 25MB line. Had to go back to Telkom ADSL. At least was able to continue working.

Placed my fibre order 2 weeks ago. Still waiting for SADV to contact me. Afrihost support wait is 42 minutes - not going there. @AfriNatic can you please contact me urgently.
