Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

So I just got an email from Gian at Afrihost saying Openserve should be getting double the speed? I'm still on 100/50 and have been since before lockdown as I thought they weren't doubling it on 100/50. Anyone else get the email?

After reading the email from Gian today, I'm just realizing that Afrihost didn't double my speed to 40mb when I downgraded to 20mb in April :( I thought the double speed fibre ended a while back :(

What the frick Afrihost?

Last i recall most ISP's said if you downgraded x days before they even announced it you wont get the double speed to stop people being cheap and trying that move

Sunday I came home my fibre was not working. After contacting support it came down to the router was faulty. It wont do a hard reset and you cannot access it through its IP address. Support gave me a escalation number and said the router would be picked up and a new one delivered as it is less than a year old.

Yesterday I contacted support again and asked what was happening and the support said to me they reset my connection. So who knows what the escalation number was really for. She then told me to go to client zone and go to orders and exchange my router. When I go there I get a message to say I may not exchange my router due to Covid.

It looks like your support staff just pass the buck and nothing isresolved and I feel very let down. Afrihost what is the solution?

Good morning,

Drop me a pm so I can assist with that. I need to mail you a return policy document that you need to accept and we will charge a R99 courier fee which gets credited once the router is returned to warehouse.

Hi,

So yes 100Mbps and 200Mbps did not get double from Openserve. Only the 10,20 and 40 was doubled. These clients that were doubled have the option of sticking to the doubled speed by upgrading. So Openserve has not confirmed that they will be renewing the offer so we work on that. This means that clients will revert back to their paid for speeds at the end of this month. Clients opting to keep the speeds will be upgraded and get the month of August at the same price they have been paying and then from September will be paying the new monthly fee.

Hi,

Not at all. I was trying to see what Info I could gather before responding. The ISP industry is very competitive and it might be that other ISP has managed to secure a better agreement with Balwin than us but I want to make sure I give you the correct info.

Thanks, I'll wait on the updated info. I have 2 properties with Afrihost Fibre and wanted to make it 3 but the difference in price is a deterrent

Email just in.
Double Fibre Speed ending this month.
Paying for 50/5, getting 100/10.
I hope you've been enjoying your free DOUBLE speed Fibre during lockdown?

Unfortunately your free upgrade is ending this month and your speed will be halving and will return to the original speed you signed up with us.

BUT...

For just R150 extra per month you CAN lock in DOUBLE your speed permanently.

And if you upgrade now you will get the Double Fibre speed for free for August as well.

Simply click this link and upgrade now:
Still worth it, have not been following pricing etc or these ISP threads?
I'm paying R997 per month currently.

Hi,

Have you tried to rule out the router being the issue by connecting directly to the ONT and dialing a pppoe connection from your pc? Our network is looking good so it's not a general issue.

Sorry for that guys. I did see there was an issue at midnight but did not last very long. Apologies for that.

Got the email last week from AH stating that Frogfoot double-up will expire at the end of this month, offering a month at the old price if I upgraded in order to keep the speed. This morning MyBB reported this " Frogfoot told MyBroadband it would be continuing with the speed increases until the State of Disaster is lifted. It will give customers 30-day notice before ending its speed double up campaign." There was also an email earlier (last week or the week before) I think from FF stating the same extension.

So.... did AH tried to trick me into upgrading ... or what ??

/Update - was in a MyBB article 12 June (how time flies :))

Could somebody from Afrihost please assist. i have logged a ticket ZSV-947-67003 . i have logged this many times and even got telkom out to replace the ONT etc. i have a 100/50 package and when doing a speed test i dont get my speeds. i have rebooted my router and ONT ( router is google mesh). i have replace my router with a mikrotik as a test and it is still the same. i have disconnected all devices and still the same issue. i understand that i will never get 100 MB. i always used to get around say 93 MB download. every time i complain something happens and magically things go back to normal. Please can this be addressed
