I have responded to the pm. let's log a fault.

Internet is working again. Thanks for all the help and the timely response. Really like the support of Afrihost, only small complaint so far is the subpar international routing

Yup, seems like whole area....again...

Almost sure this is related to loadshedding. I can see you are always going offline where there is loadshedding. Could be that the OLT does not have backup battery but the site has a generator. So it goes down generator starts and then the OLT restarts and goes back online.

Awesome.

Do you have examples of the routing issues you are experiencing?

Yea, that'd make sense if it came back online. so far, nearly 2 hours and still hasn't come back..

It is mostly games not hosted in London.

Afrihost -> Diablo 3

ExpressVPN -> Diablo 3

Afrihost -> League of Legends EU West

ExpressVPN -> League of Legends EU West

Just 2 games I have tested, can test more but so far every game i played internationally seems to have better latency on ExpressVPN than on Afrihost

WIOCC has some decent routes I give them that. The slight increase in latency doesn't mean bad routing though :(

I didn't say it is bad routing :). I just said it is subpar. I mostly game so every little bit of latency reduction helps. But it is no big deal, as I just turn on the VPN when I play games and turn it off when i am done.

The line other than that works really really well.

I would rather take 10ms extra latency and a stable line than having 10ms lower latency and a line with heavy loss. So far gaming has been flawless, because The latency does not move it stays consistent.

I want to upgrade from 50/5 to 100/10 but when I try to change my package on the Clientzone it say "What you pay today" R1,108.77 (pro rata of the R1,147). I already paid my R997 yesterday for my existing package for September and I would only expect to pay an additional (R1147-R997)*29/30 = R145 for the increase. Will Afrihost charge the full R1,108.77 to my card?

Fair enough. Well glad the line is really stable. I wish I could get 1Gbps. I need to 1Gbps loving too :(

That's odd.

When a client submits a package change this is what happens in the background.

The system calculates that a regrade will will likely be completed the same day. So it calculates a pro rata from the day the upgrade is submitted to the end of the month. It displays this charge to the client. Once the upgrade is completed it adds this charge to the account. Then the old service credit from the date of the change to the end of the month.

If you send me your clientzone email I can have a look at what it's showing and get some info why it's showing that.

Dude I'm in the exact same boat, Afrihost says they have done their part, yet MetroFibre phoned me and said they only received the cancellation yesterday effective 2 October. All they need is an email from Afrihost to release the line immediately and they can move me. However NO ONE at Afrihost can move me. WTF!!!!!

@AfriNatic , clearly something is screwed on your end, please sort this out ASAP as I work from home and mobile data is killing me!!!

@AfriFella @AfriGuy

Good day,

Thank you for making contact. This is how MetroFibre works. The line cancelled on the old ISP but remains active for another 30days before it's able to migrate. The new ISP needs to contact their Metro Fibre Network manager to have the line released earlier so they can activate the service.

If they do not know how to do that they would need to escalate that to MetroFibre to assist.

Because MetroFibre works like this, should they get the cancellation the moment Afrihost receives it? I understand it might be difficult to handle each FNO differently.

Is there no certain standards followed by all Fibre Infrastructure operators and service providers?
