Spotify is poopy...

Are you still experiencing issues? Is it slow or does it buffer? I tested it on my side now and don't pick up anything odd. I used the open.spotify.com in the browser and it works fine unless you are having issues with the app?

Been struggling all week in Centurion since the speed upgrade from Openserve. During the day I get full speed and low latency. But late afternoon & at night my latency increases and most of the week have had very low speed on DL (but full speed op UL). Logged a few queries, as I initially closed them when the speed corrected from morning to mid afternoon. But seems to be new issue every evening - last night my Discord pings (local) was 2.5million...... (latest ticket is #LWP-628-19093). Currently latency at 40+ to local, and that is on 200mb Fibre. Lag in games that I haven't experienced lag in ages....

There has been a few network faults in the centurion area. We were assured by Openserve that these have been addressed. Last night there was issues with Google and Discord was affected by this.

Can you do a trace route and post the results here so I can have a look at where the latency is coming from so we can determine if the issue is with the line itself.

This is the same issue we saw recently.

Let me have a look at the ticket quickly.

I'm looking at the ticket and it seems the area is an issue that they are aware of. I will log a new ticket for you now to get an ETA on when the issues will be resolved.

1. This is obviously the router that your pc is connected to.
2. Likely IPC on Openserve side. It doesn't respond even on ADSL.
3. We load balance IPC receive and that is why you see 2x IPs there.
5. A switch in Teraco on our network.
6. Peering. After that it will be on the other network.

So I ran some tests with my brother on Vumatel (and Web Africa) in Jhb.
DBN NAP - 196.10.141.128
JHB NAP - 196.60.9.107

Funny thing, from me (Scottburgh, ~50km south of Durban), it's ~14ms to NAP Durban, on Openserve (and Afrihost)

From Jhb on Vumatel to NAP Durban, it's also about ~14ms.

From me to NAP Jhb it's about 22ms and for my brother he gets like 6ms.

I would've thought I'd reach NAP Durban much quicker due to the phyiscal distance, but apparently not.

Not a concern or anything, just super interesting.

For me it's also about 14ms from Centurion Openserve to Teraco DBN. I think the issue is where you are located. The traffic might not be going up towards Durban but maybe inland first and then up north.

Are the Openserve upgrades still rolling out?
In my Afrihost control panel it says Im on 200/100 but Im still getting 100/50 in speed tests.
I have restarted the ONT and router multiple times over the last two days and nothing has changed.

Hi,

The upgrades are not done. You can send me a pm with your clientzone email so I can reset the port for the new speeds to kick in.

Yes. They will be running it manually for everyone now which will take a while and then we have it running automatically each second day to make sure that everyone is on the correct profiles when they upgrade or downgrade.
Coming back to say - seems like the script ran for us last night as the line is now testing at 100/50. Thanks very much!
