Yes, very unstable since the change from 8 to 25meg, youtube seems to be dropping a lot more frames, video starts blurry then great, not sure, nothing on my end has changed... Just that since I went to 25meg, the web seems "sticky" if that helps, not as good as it was on 8meg down!

Durban, Musgrave region..openserve on the road..

Does a speedtest show you the correct speeds?

There is quite a bit of Openserve changes on their network and I think it will settle once they are done with all the changes on their network.

Yes and no... Yes sometimes it is up around 25-30meg, other times it is around 10-12meg.. only 1 device is currently using the network, an hp laptop, connected to the router via ethernet, streaming dstv, cricket...

That is rock solid stable, youtube on the other hand is a nightmare.. dropped frames etc, blurry... It was perfect no issues prior to the switch-over from 8 to 25meg down... Since then, it is tempermental, much like it was when there was new fibre here, took a while for the system "to bed in", it was great, now not so much!

Maybe the crappy youtube was because of the google outage the other day?

Can you download and install pingplotter and do 100 counts to youtube.com like this below:

Hi everyone,

Please note Openserve is aware of capacity issues during peak time for fibre nodes in and around Rooihuiskraal Centruion. The issue has been identified and requires some additional engineering to resolve. There is no ETA on this yet.

Almost like they didn't know they were doubling everyone's line speed? :P

Hi,

This issue should be resolved now.

Please can you check and confirm?
Yes, it is. Thank you, and very well done.

Afrihost speeds have been pretty bad of late. Then its fine, then its slow slow - during the day... quite awful!

Im with afrihost aswell on openserve, getting pretty much very stable performance, usually always 26/24 during the day and around 23/24 at peak times... maybe it just your area?

@AfriNatic - This is why I suggested separate threads per FNO. A statement like that is pretty useless... it doesn't state FNO, .... it's like me saying..... "Hey, Afrihost speeds are great lately... day or night... super happy "

Hi,

Is this on DSL or Fibre? There are some issues that Openserve is experiencing and have reverted some of the speed increases given to clients in certain areas. Your experience might be related to this if you are on Openserve.

There isn't any other general fibre issues or network issues that I'm aware of at the movement other then the ones listed on the website status page.

Hi AfriNatic...
Busy streaming dstv and the channel keeps dropping, I have noticed that I am being rebooted a number of times during the day, dropbox keep re-syncing.. is there a fault on the openserve system in Durban, Musgrave??

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. I'm not aware of any issues on Openserve in that area. Are you still struggling?
