I'm having a weird issue with my wifi. On all devices, it says "Sign in to (network)" then loads "https//login.afrihost.com/ could not be loaded becuase: net: ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT"

But my ethernet connection is fine. What's the problem?

Which network and area?

We are aware of an outage that is causing clients to be prompted the login page. We are working on it and hope to have the issue resolved ASAP.

Please note the outage is also causing MTN and Openserve authentication issues.

Just use 9.9.9.9 and 1.1.1.2 and never have issues again. Been using this setup for years with no issues.

Yea but if you want OS or xbox game updates to come from local cache, you need to use local DNS servers, unless that has changed.

?

I have since fixed the issues on my XSX by disabling the put storage to sleep option and closing all apps

And now max my line using Quad9 and CloudFlare as my DNS upstream, cached and filtered by PiHole

So I don't think the traditional belief of DNS applies anymore, especially now with CDN

In which case, something like Cloudflare and Google DNS do have local peers, so I think it should be fine coming from local cache regardless.

I've been having major issues with my MFN connection throughout the course of this week and last week.
Faults are logged, then the connection is restored for a few hours after which it goes down again.
I'm definitely not the only one on the MFN that is affected as I've seen other people in my area reporting on this as well, just not sure if faults are being logged for this issue aside from mine since it seems like an area wide problem where the connection goes down completely.

I'm not aware of maintenance being done in my area so I'm not sure what the problem could be but it is affecting me quite severely since I'm working from home.

Edit: I've logged another fault with them, seems the status has been updated to an outage now.

Please check why the network status page is missing out on maintenance notices. Ours went off at 00:00 and had to result to the Rocket net status page to see there was scheduled maintenance.

Thanks.

Will ask the Noc team to take a look. We usually load all the maintenance notices in blue when we receive them from the FNOs

@AfriNatic @AfriGuy @Afrihost-Gian

Also been experiencing the same issues from last week with AH connectivity on MFN (Montana Gardens Pretoria). Network simply dies for hours at a time. ONT has all lights Green. Router is unable to get IP from DHCP. Laptop direct on ONT is also unable to get DHCP IP (Gets standard windows default IP - - - 169.254.x.x)

Live in a complex and we are all on MFN. Strangely other ISP's on the very same MFN are working without interruption (e.g. Supersonic, Mind the Speed and Level7)

AH does not appear to be forthright about the technical issues.

Considering moving ISP!!!

Hi,

Unfortunately these are MFN outages. MFN has different routing for their own ISP compared to open access.

We have been engaging with MFN on these outages to find a solution asap.

We have been notified about an outage again today on MFN in the Pretoria/Centurion area.

@AfriNatic

How are Supersonic, Mind the Speed and Level7 working? They are not MFN...

I can't speak for other networks and I don't know how their network is rolled out.

We have picked up that on our vlans there has been outages that prevent DHCP. If this was a wider network issue on the Afrihost network all our clients would have issues but it's only MFN and in the Pretoria and Centurion area.

We are working with MFN to find a fix that is permanent and reliable.
