I can't tracert anymore, our power is going out, water is running out and this is too much time to keep trace routing. Something is broken for interational for us here. And it wasn't the storm, it was fine until an hour or so ago.
Yeah it was all good till an hour ago. Water just went out here too, is your power going out due to load shedding or not?

Tracing route to netflix.com [54.73.148.110]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.0.1
2 * * * Request timed out.
3 9 ms 9 ms 4 ms 165-73-14-89.ip.afrihost.co.za [165.73.14.89]
4 9 ms 3 ms 4 ms 169-1-5-209.ip.afrihost.co.za [169.1.5.209]
5 4 ms 3 ms 2 ms 169-1-5-208.ip.afrihost.co.za [169.1.5.208]
6 11 ms 11 ms 11 ms 100.127.1.66
7 11 ms 10 ms 11 ms 99.83.71.106
8 20 ms 20 ms 13 ms 150.222.134.71
9 10 ms 11 ms 10 ms 52.93.56.117
10 * * * Request timed out.
11 * * * Request timed out.
12 * * * Request timed out.
13 * * * Request timed out.
14 * * * Request timed out.
15 * * * Request timed out.

All I tested are timing out and dead

netflix.com doesn't respond to icmp so that is normal and the traffic is moving through the network to it's destination.

Can you see if you get a response from the Cloudflare DNS when you run this in CMD?

nslookup help.afrihost.com 1.1.1.1

Ah damn, hope things stabilise a bit soon! Thought I'd skip working in the day and work now but can't due to the international issues haha

Ahhh so Cloudflare in Durban is an issue but they didn't reroute traffic to CPT or JHB and that is causing the issue. Let me see if we can report to Cloudflare.

Hi,

Please can you send me a pm with your email address so I can investigate?
Hey,

Thanks - sorted itself out like 20-30 minutes after I posted. Was experiencing intermittent speed drops from around 16:30 though.

Back to normal right now:

Morning,

Thank you for you pm.

I thought it would be better to respond here.

We have and I'm sure many other ISP's and FNO's with the ongoing issue in KZN. The floods have caused landslides that have caused fibre breaks. We have been juggling available paths for most of the time since the bad weather started. Last night Cloudflare's main NLD from JHB to DUR went down and although they rerouted traffic still served their prefixes in Durban causing clients in Durban to have issues for 3+ hours after that.

This morning most of our NLD's between JHB and DUR are online but there is high losses on some of them so we have a rerouted traffic again.

The loss has cleared for now and speeds should improve.

Apologies for the issues experienced.

Thanks, things are a little smoother now. Definitely better than last night. Much appreciated.

Afrihost has been faulty all day. Tried restarting my modem after 5PM and its been sub 3mbps since.

Speedtests were usually done every 2hrs. Now I set it to every 15 min to get a better picture of the fault

Morning,

We did have issues with our NLD routes all day yesterday and last night especially.

The routes are stable for now and we keep monitoring.
