Good Morning,

Sorry for the late reply. Are you still experiencing issues?

Looks back to normal. International downloads seem fine as well.

Nothing yet on my side, still my normal speed

Vuma is still completing some changes tonight. Our Dev team are finishing the speed profile changes.

I will follow up on this to get an ETA on when it will be completed.

Also no increase on my side - interestingly speeds have moved from 20/10 to 20/20, but not yet 50/50.

Afrihost support did confirm that they would be rolling out further upgrades from 20:30 last night, so I'll see what happens during the day.

I ordered fibre for one of my sites on 12 Apr. Still nothing. Not a call to come install from openserve. Nothing.
Tried the afrihost reps on here a few times via PM. They just inform me that the order still stuck at Openserve planning.

I got my router from AH but still no fibre in sight. The openserve guys were busy for a couple of weeks pulling fibre though the whole office building and the body corporate informed us when they completed the job that we can now order fibre from our ISP of choice.

The fibre showed available on the AH coverage map and i proceeded with the order. Don't know what to do?
Just an update on this.

Got a call over the weekend from Openserve wanting to come and do the installation on Monday 13 Jun. Monday morning I got a call from the tech that he is on his way and I meet him at the site. Now the building is a 3-floor Medical building full of doctors and dentists and offices. Was a moerse job pulling in the fibre to every floor and every office through all the comms shafts, ducts, and ceilings etc. That was done in April already. Order submitted via AH on 12 Apr.

So we found my office's green fibre sleeve with my office label on it. So we start lifting ceilings to check where the green sleeve stops. Nowhere to be found. We trace the green sleeve from the Comms shaft on my floor and find it has a joint now running a blue sleeve for a few meters and just stops in the middle of the hallway. The fsckers never pulled it all the way to my office. So we had to lift ceilings in surrounding offices to pull through the fibre all the way to where it must terminate at the ONT in my office.

TLDR; The office is up and running on Openserve fibre through AH after 2 months since the order was placed. Now I can cancel my 40MB VDSL.

Thanks to @AfriNatic for the responses and feedback he gave me although much of it was out of his hands and the issues were with Openserve on the timeframe.

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic

Are you aware of any issues in Alberton with Vuma Villages at the moment? For the past few weeks, the Packet loss has been on and off, So only gaming was bad, but my work and watching youtube/Netflix were unaffected.

From Yesterday onwards I am experiencing really high packet loss every now and then for 10-30 minutes where nothing works and my work VPN kicks me out.

Any help on this would be appreciated for the time being I am working on mobile

Morning,

Not aware of any issues. Checked the vuma port for network incidents and don't see any listed.

Can you capture a continuous mtr to 1.1.1.1 showing the loss and drop me a pm so I can log it for you?

Once the internet dies again I will capture the trace and send it your way. Thank you for the assistance

Just to confirm @AfriNatic
1. The vuma upgrades will not be permanent, will revert back to old speeds after 3 months.

2. There is a price discount as well, eg with the 100/100mb line being R929 pm, together with 200mb speed for 3 months.

So existing clients get the free upgrade until 13th September 2022. After that the speeds revert back to previous speed however you can then do a package change to the speed/price you want as displayed on the website.

The promo isn't technically permanent but you can switch to a better package after you enjoyed the free upgrades.

New clients get the price as displayed on the website so if you signup now for a 200/200 line at R1049 you won't be upgraded to the 500/200 for free as your upgrade is already included. We just loaded the changes so long for less admin later on when the promo is over and for more clients to be on the new prices.

I hope that makes sense.
