Complaining about the same thing but Afrihost does not want to change the router to a different model. Have made several attempts at convincing their support that it is an issue, but to no avail.

Sorry to hear that, but atleast I'm not going mad then. Nothing worse than frustrating tech

Going to try my old TP-Link and see

Sounds like a device thats on your network that's doing torrents after 5pm. But that fing app that I said will help you as it is quiet in depth and it picks up rogue devices on your network.

Downloaded the app and tested now after 5pm. Only devices on the network are ones inside my house and literally none of them besides the Smart TV in the lounge are doing anything. Hit 5pm today and boom exact same issue after two restarts as well.

Literally have no idea how at 16:59 everything is perfect and the moment it rolls to 17:00 I can watch everything just die completely. Kind of spoke to Afrihost about this and they advised moving to a different channel to improve performance but it hasn't done a thing at all.

I literally take one step out of my room after 5pm and everything is perfect while the rest of the morning and afternoon I get consistent speeds of above 15 I struggle to get 3

Genuinely don't know what else I can do

try adjusting the antennas so that some are horizontal and some are vertical. also, try different locations (height makes a big difference) for the router as stuff like microwaves and cordless phones also work on 2.4ghz.

Don't know if that router, or any other network device in your house has some sort of schedule that kicks off at 5pm sharp.

I know on my USG i can schedule wifi access for instance to only be available at certain times.

Does the Dlink have some sort of scheduled QOS or something?

Have you tried Ethernet? is that also slow after 5?

From what I know and having looked into it there’s no schedule setup at the moment. Ethernet is perfect all day able to stream at 720p off my PS4 without stutters at all.

Spoke to Afrihost people and they’ve suggested setting up an extender because it’s not reaching the rooms properly. Might just try get a technician to come out and check it out.

I may try that too. Moving the router is kinda tough because would need a longer cable to connect to the CPE but may look into that at some point in the future. Because I know it’s not a problem besides distance

Trying to get some pure fibre of my own... but hit a problem with Debit Order's - Afrihost and Absa

I'm trying to verify the DO - but there's no code on it?
All it says is "IMMEDIATE TRF CR REF: STD S.A. AFRIHOST ZQ"
It says this on the downloaded statement, app, full-service website...

Seems like it's been cut short right at that code part (I assume starting ZQ). Am I the first/only person to have had this issue - how did you solve it?

[called Afrihost already, but thrown between 3 different departments, tried a 'card' linked to a different account, but it's an international one, so that just get's rejected by Afrihost... How can I get you to take my money Afrihost :)]

i use a normal cheque mastercard linked in clientzone.

My son is complaining that latency to the Fortnite servers is much higher than usual. I don't know what it should be, but if the image attached is not normal, can you please investigate. I have watched his screen and it goes as high as 300+ ms at times
Can you run a traceroute to one of the Fortnite servers?

Same problem I've been having with Apex Legends. Their ping to London is 140-150ms, (I don't know why it's not stable at 140ms) but as soon as it leaves London it's all over the place to anywhere else in EU, going as high as 200ms. @AfriMan and @AfriFella have said they're looking into it, but it's their upstream provider that needs to optimise so I wouldn't hold your breath. I've been using a VPN to London for more stable pings.
Can you run a traceroute to one of the Apex Legends server using a VPN and post the results?

I will when I get a chance, but it's general consensus on this forum that latency to EU is about 20 to 30ms higher than where we come from (CISP). You obviously use a different provider than cisp, but I hope this can be improved.

Hi There

Had my Fibre Line and CPE Box installed on the 9th of August by Vumatel 20 Down 20 Up. Everything was working perfectly up until this weekend. Bought an Ethernet cable to run from my Router to my bedroom just for a more stable connection than WiFi, using for PS4 and MacBook depending on what I'm doing.

Ever since doing that at around 5pm every evening I completely lose access to all WiFi connectivity in the room. I should mention that I am connecting to the 2.4Ghz Connectino due to distance from the router to bedroom.

During the day everything is fine and I'm able to stream Netflix, Twitch and watch YouTube videos without any issues on the WiFi but as soon as it gets to 5pm it just completely refuses to connect. I can access simple things like WhatsApp and stuff like that but even then messages take forever to send.

Ran a few speedtests and the highest download I got was just under 3 down and the up was getting to around 0.80 if I was lucky. The strange thing is if I either switch off the device using the Ethernet cable or completely unplug it the problem goes away when it's plugged in I don't even have to be doing a single thing on it and it still gets affected by it. Not sure if that's a legitimate thing but only started happening once connected.

Attached two images of recent speedtests. One from phone and the other from MacBook both sitting right next to each other done one after the other on the same WiFi Connection.

If there is anything else I need to give regarding this problem/issue please let me know and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks in Advance
It sounds like the issue is caused by wireless interference. I suggest that you get a wifi analyzer app to scan your environment before changing the WiFi channel. Here is the link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.farproc.wifi.analyzer&hl=en_ZA

I know this might be hetic but try changing your wifi password, like wingnut771 said that it could be your neighbour maybe he hacked you, that's the fastest way and also set your wifi password to WPA2/psk
It's not really likely that you are hacked but possible.

@AfriFella

Could you please follow up on the issue that I've been having these past few weeks.

It seems we're getting closer to a solution. One of your tech/support guys called me early yesterday and determined that somehow no one up to now had noticed that Vumatel had assigned my FSAN number "elsewhere". lol

So close to 3 weeks have been wasted ( am I going to be compensated for that? ) with a combination of the whatsapp support and some people in the AH call center insisting that the line was successfully migrated and that I should reconfigure the router and/or try going to activate.afrihost.com .

So apparently what is happening now is that a new order with Vumatel is being processed, and I was told that by this time today I should finally have access to your network, but that hasn't happened yet.

Could you chase that up for me, please. You have all my details in previous PM's I've sent to you.

Started with the 25/25 package on MF, got about 27/27.
Bumped up to the 100/100 to test for this month, but the speeds are varied.
Just got 90/104 with a 4ms ping.
It also depends on the other online activities you may be performing alongside your speed test because they also contend for bandwidth when the test is running.

I will post apex and overwatch trace routes with vpn and without. When i am home at 1.
