Looks like we're still fine tuning Telkom performance at the moment. Please hold on a little longer - we should have this wrapped up shortly.
MTN Fixed still has packet loss. ADSL seems to be good now!

any name of the ship? Can't find it on tracking in the port unless its left already?

Some traffic routed over Telkom is still showing some issues, so our network team are focussed on fixing that. They have a lot to address, so let's give them a little time to stabilise.

Why is latency via Seacom from CPT so bad? I don't remember pings to London being this terrible when Seacom was the only option.

We are aware of latenyc being a little higher than we'd like. For the moment we're focussed on addressing packet loss issues and overall routing - we will definitely be focussing on optimising latency ASAP.

Also, just remember that SEACOM is East coast, so people who were getting better latency in Cape Town, for example, may see a little extra on their side until we go back onto WACS eventually.

Don't get me wrong, I realise there are much higher priorities than optimising latency at the moment and I'm grateful AH are working so hard to implement this solution. I was merely wondering, and may have phrased it a little aggressively :)

Question... how does this affect someone in the UK connecting to SA servers ? I assume if they route via Seacom, they'll be ok , otherwise same problems ?

I would think that would be the case. Broken cable is a broken cable. She dead.

@AfriMan Huuuuuuuge improvement at home with our Fibre. Certainly not perfect but in comparison to the last few days, it’s like chalk and cheese.
I’m sure there was a considerable unplanned cost involved getting this sorted so many thanks!

For anyone interested here is the direct link to the ship, can't help much but I kind of enjoy seeing these things.

Did the isp's really think they could wait till cable was repaired?
Even if this ship left immediately would took 7 days to reach the cable break.

I echo this, thanks for the effort

Hi Guys, still seeing packet loss and routing through telkom. If I traceroute from a server in London it shows Seacom, Are you guys still working on te BGP routing?

they only using seacom for the return path, upload still with telkom, maybe try a vpn like warp or windscribe?
