Afrihost - Pure Fibre Feedback Thread

Hello, I am a bit desperate at this point and didn't think of MBB earlier. I upgraded the package for my house from 10Mbps+ to 200Mbps+ and have had problems ever since. I logged the support ticket on Sun, 23 Feb 2020 and it still hasn't been solved. During that time I saw that I wasn't gonna get the 200Mbps I wanted and downgraded to 50Mbps and the performance is as follows:

Who is the cable provider? The latency is too high if you are around pta or jhb

Afrihost please help.
I have run two speed test one local which shows i am getting the right speeds. when going to the usa it is very very very bad. I have complained many times about this. Its get fixed and goes back. last week a member of afrihost (Afrifella) says i should pm him which i did and to date no feedback from you guys.

Hi There

Have you received any assistance regarding this?
You're welcome to message me your details so we can look into that.
Your ISP isn't showing in the picture, what exactly are the details in that picture?

I have no idea why the ISP is not showing, but it is Afrihost. IIf you follow the link, it shows the ISP as Afrihost
.

I have received some support from a request to call back and have been told that I will be called again tomorrow to check. If it has still not been resolved by then, I will DM you

You'll let us know how it goes :)
Hi. I had used the test account and only got 7 mb download and 43 upload. i done a speed test to washington dc again. the tech had said they will send a tech out to reset ONT, if that does not work they will escalate. i will keep you posted. Thank you

Hi Telkom Tech came out and replaced ONT Line had been reset etc and still the same speeds download is only 7MB and upload 30 to washington dc. Should the download not be higher then the upload. FYI come around 5:30 i cannot even stream as this leads me to believe you may have capacity issues for a long time

It's not an Afrihost network issue.

Everyone in Gauteng goes through the same Openserve IPC in JHB. IF it was an Afrihost issue everyone will experience the same issue. If your speeds are specifically only slow on International it's likely a Packet Loss issue on your line.

My line on Openserve with Afrihost is fine

Ok, so I seem to have a Windows VPN problem on the Frogfoot side. I support 2 of my clients via Windows VPN. On Openserve no problem, on Frogfoot I get the message below :

I never had to adjust anything on my OS router (both DLink DIR-825) . Other VPN clients works fine... even tried the Windows VPN on top of NORD (connected to a SA VPN) :)

Any ideas ?

Hi,

Check if you have QOS turned on, on your router....if so, turn it off and check speedtest again.
I saw the similar speedtest results and streaming issues on my DIR-825 router when QOS was turned on.

Hey eshar
If the issue starts at 5:30 every day then I suspect that it could be related to network congestion. Perform a speed test and a traceroute when the connection is buffering and share with us.

I know this sounds silly but do you mind testing the same server but in an Android or iPhone with the speedtest app?

This speed issue might be OS or something related because my route is exactly the same as yours but my connection is perfect.

Sorted. Seems the current version of the router software by default disable certain things, which I searched for but couldn't find :) Differs quite a bit from the version on the older one. The PPTP and L2TP are disabled , so enabling them resolved my issue. Thanks to "the guy that resolved ticket #WHB-544-18874" for his quick response early this morning , it's appreciated. Don't want to mention names, but the Afri-people can trace him via the ticket.. good stuff :)
