Good morning @AfriNatic

I have also been struggling with low speeds and frequent packet loss for the past week. Have reset the connection through your Whatsapp team but has not helped.

Is there an issue with international traffic still?

The issue has been resolved.

Do you have any examples of issues that you are facing like a trace route perhaps that shows packet loss?

Thanks for responding.

I am just a simple casual gamer and don't know how to do a trace route, but I will figure it out when I am home this evening and send to you.

There are 2 useful tools you can try. WinMTR and Pingplotter.

They give some nice data to look at.

We have a couple of servers you can use to check to.

ams.hosted.co.za
lon.hosted.co.za
uk.hosted.co.za
ny.hosted.co.za
CPT: 169.1.2.59
JHB: 169.1.1.25

Do a couple of tests to these servers to see if you observe any loss.

Hey,

They look pretty clear to me. Only if the loss carries to the destination can we say it has packetloss. The hop along the way just didn't respond to ICMP which the program recored as loss but it isn't actually loss.

OK, but I am experiencing what feels like packet loss in everything I am doing - Apex Legends (all servers - Belgium, Longon, Singapore, Amsterdam), Youtube, Netflix, Twitch. Constantly getting stuck and having to re-connect.

What else do you think that could be?

Well wouldn't you know it, I am playing Apex Legends now and it seems to be working 100%.

Maybe the traceroutes fixed it?

In any case, thank you for taking the time to respon and I will report back if the issue reoccurs.

Apex servers are scuffed atm my line is 100% and some servers i get extreme packet loss its mainly the London and Amsterdam ones that are bad

Hi Afrinatic, nice to see you’re still around :)
I’ve been having some issues which seem to be echoed by Leitmotif/8-Ball/Goth_Life et al

Issue:
My line seems to be suffering from degraded international speeds and latency, usually from 12/1/2PM until 11PM or so. Youtube has suffered with buffering and occasional disconnects, international calls to clients/family/friends have also been poor quality. FWIW, Netflix has been OK (assuming there’s a local cache in place for this).

This issue has been persisting since the start of Feb, ±3 weeks and I’ve tried isolating the problem to see whether it’s on my end.

Router is a Huawei AX3. Got two Deco E4s to assist incase it was a signal issue despite tests occurring ±2m from router/ONT. They helped but did not rectify, even when running one as a router.

Changed my device DNS to google/cloudflare on testing but didn’t help.

The most annoying thing is that it’s pretty normal in the mornings and then international traffic significantly deteriorates after lunchtime and my initial suspicion was shaping but that’s highly unlikely (I hope).

Line: 100/100Mbps with Frogfoot/Afrihost

Happy for you to DM me to figure it out but not happy about this at the moment and hoped to have this rectified after the 17/02 Frogfoot "work" that happened.

Let me know if you need any further details.

Tests, done between 7:15 - 7:30AM (surprised to see that DL speed in the morning as it is more "performant" before lunchtime)...

Might have been related to the game itself and not the connection. If yuou experience issues again please let me know.

Morning,

Are you connected with wifi perhaps?

The jitter is a bit high but I don't see any losses that would explain the slow throughput. What is the throughput like on local speedtest servers and speedtest servers in JHB vs CPT servers?
