Afrihost "Steal" Experience

Hi Guys,

Just want to know want service and speed you guys are getting on the Afrihost "Steal" Packages?
I got the 4mbps uncapped with speeds from 150 to 450 :-) and a AMAZING PING AVERAGE OF 13!!!

slower than normal...but for R1 ...who can complain
 
My experience has been fine. Unshaped speeds day and night. 50gb to burn through for two months. Can't complain at all for R1.00
 
So much wanted to experience this service, but for some reason my credit card is not being accepted, they keep telling me to check the details?
 
I initially had excellent speeds. Much better then Telkom. But now that I've reached 40gb, I've been roped in very tight. Speed test showed 0.3mb on my 4mb uncapped account. Oh well, the 40gb was fun while it lasted :)
 
I thought you only got throttled when the network was busy? I just tried to do a speed test now, and I'm still only getting 0.49mbps. Weird! But I guess we can't complain for R1. But it does make uncapped from Afrihost not as desirable.

Imo, Afrihost is the king of capped accounts! Uncapped not so good... But if you're still willing to pay per gb, its very difficult to beat afrihosts offering
 
I have been with them for ages and they are awesome.
Good on anyone who joins them.
Only service which I had which was as good was webafrica.

I take it you mean the capped packages are good. From what i have gathered on these forums the uncapped packages from afrihost are not recommended

Uhmmm to where ? No ways

But saying that, I was on webafrica this afternoon..and guess what... gaming just came to a stand still...switched to afritoast and everything was running 100% + again... :)
 
I would agree - capped packages are great. I've always had great speed on the free 1gb account. But would not be tempted into extending the uncapped account. Now to just remember to cancel ;)
 
Just waiting for Telkom to upgrade my line to 1Mbps but on my 384 line my uncapped package has been excellent. At work we tried a 4Mbps package yesterday to see how it would work and so much better than Axxess.

If I had to go uncapped (I'm a low end user so even 5Gb is more than i can eat), I would go Afrihost.
 
I've had a great experience using their 50GB shaped package which I chose for R1. For some reason it's split into two 25GB's, so I hope they don't charge me for the one half because I did explicitly select 50GB when I signed up for the R1 steal.
Anyhows, great service with these accounts apart from one or two nights where international was pretty sluggish, but I'm sure that was a general IS upstream fault. I'd really recommend Afrihost and will be making use of their products in future if I need more bandwidth, assuming of course that no other ISP gives me one heck of a better bargain :-) Great job to Gian and his team, I hope this promotion didn't hurt the bank too much, and I wish Afrihost the best in terms of new customers in return for their generosity!
