I just noticed these new Telkom LTE packages on afrihost's site.

@Afrigirl @AfriNatic Any ideas on what the FUP is on these packages?
The site doesn't show any FUP info for this yet, also noticed the pricing between 200mbps and 300mbps is the same, I am guessing these are meant to be 5G packages.

Hi.

It is a typo, I will ask Branding to correct it.

Hello @Afrigirl @AfriGuy I'm looking at the Telkom fixed LTE packages you guys have and I was wondering if the SIM would work with portable routers like those ZTE mifi routers or the Huawei E5576?

Is the SIM also still unlocked? As in, it's not tied to one tower.

Telkom sim cards can be used in any LTE-A device and have no geographical restrictions.

So it seems like the Telkom packages from Afrihost now use Afrihost's IP network instead of being directly on Telkom like it used to be in the past.

@AfriNatic @Afrigirl I am just curious is this a fairly recent change or has it been like this for a while now?
Its nice that we get to benefit from Afrihost's on-net caches, with Telkom SIMs now :)

It is a recent change; the team is onboarding Telkom LTE so we can have our own APN.

Reboot your Telkom Wireless router on the 8th of June 2026.

Telkom is making changes to their Fixed Wireless network. To stay connected, you’ll need to reboot your router after the network change.

What do these changes entail @Afrigirl ?

Hi,

We will no longer be reselling Telkom LTE as a direct Telkom product. Previously, we sold it as is from Telkom.

It has now been onboarded as a wholesale package and will be managed in the same manner as our MTN and Vodacom packages.

So, if we make use of Telkom "Unrestricted" for out to in access which works obviously as it's a feature of Telkom's offering will that fall away as of tomorrow ...big problem

Hi.

APN has not changed as of yet. "unrestricted, internet, Telkom or afrihost" should still work

Hi,

My apologies for the confusion. I've since received confirmation from our NOC team.

All users on the Afrihost APN are assigned IP addresses from Telkom's private IP range (typically starting with 100.x.x.x) and are therefore behind CGNAT. Telkom only provides a single IP allocation pool for this APN, which means public IP addresses are not available on the service.

Please also note that changing the APN name or using a different APN configuration will not result in a public IP address being assigned. Regardless of the APN used, connections will still receive a private IP address from Telkom's network.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
