@AfriGuy, what I find incredibly disingenuous is the fact that your network status page states that your network is fully operational when that information is clearly false. Your website states that the IPC issues have been resolved; but why would any honest company make claims that are entirely misleading? Your network is not fully operational. Why lie about it? Do you think of us as idiots?

I prefer not to use testmy.net . Not that it's not accurate or a poor service, it's just that it uses a very different methodology for testing throughput, so results compared to Ookla tests are like chalk and cheese on the same line. Also, once you submit those results to us, it's very difficult to know what we're looking at if we use different methods. So for the sake of unformity to establish a baseline, we prefer using Speedtest.net :)
Speedtest currently shows me to be in Maputo (I am actually in EL) with the default test giving a ping from Maputo to Pretoria of 60 ms and you expect me to take this as a serious test on my connection?

Its a general problem with this sort of thing
remember you are dealing with a complex system of interdependent components that can have a lag to being "fixed". So there equipment is up and the monitoring systems see all is looking good on the parameters but the dozens of routers reconnecting and so on need to be formed.

What Afrihost should probably do is change their webpage system to provide for a couple of hours after this sought of fault a lighter green or whatever with a message that a network error has recently been corrected and while the network is fully operational from our side users may experience some of the consequences in congestion or a need to reset their equipment.

Sorry that you feel this way, it isn't our intention to lie about our network status.
Our noticeboard is listing our network as operational as the IPC issues in the South have been resolved. Are you still seeing problems on your connection?

Sorry but not sure where you getting your info from. We spoke to support at 18:30 and we were told that the IPC issues have not been resolved... It's 8pm now with no useable internet

I'm still being shaped. Netflix looks crap, no matter the DNS.

I sorry to say that is true your speeds will be managed due to that you are on a uncapped account.
I do sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
(Verbatim)

So the only time of day I actually get to use my internet is when I'm shaped to bits. And the answers to my questions can not be more generic, unhelpful or insincere.

Yeah... Thanks, but no thanks. I do not enjoy being told a different story every time.

Have a good one Afrihost, I (sincerely) hope you guys return to your former glory one day.

There should be no issues in the East at the moment. Shaping is occuring, but to a far lesser extent than other regions. Have you run any diagnostics on your side?

Please download our network test APP and then drop me a PM :(

The IPC issues we resolved around 11am yesterday. However we had a small group of clients reporting DNS issues, very slow or no connectivity due to some kind of DNS problem. This seems to have righted itself by now.

If you're still having these issues, please PM me so we can check all your router settings ASAP :(

Sorry to hear that you've decided to leave. Can I suggest maybe pausing your account for now, while we wait for our additional capacity? I think you'll definitely see an overall improvement in your experience when we are able to light up more IPC

This sounds like an unrelated issue to IPC. But please post a traceroute so we can see more info - or drop me one in a PM :(

I'll try again later. For now I will try the same kind of service at R150 less.

I must say, things were great on the Afrihost capped option. Things were flying and Netflix looks great, but Netflix unfortunately eats cap :(

Could you perhaps advise how I go about moving my line to a different ISP? Do I cancel everything with Afrihost or do I just initiate with the other ISP?

You will need to cancel with us and select the option to move your line back to Telkom.

But drop me a PM, let's chat about your options :)
