We always do our best to make sure this type of work is completed quickly :( I know the timing sucks, but we'd rather fix this up quickly!

I've got DSTv so I'm good to go, but between this and Eskom threatening rolling blackouts tonight there might be some unhappy people. Best check around for pubs with a genny!

@AfriMan

How's that capacity coming along?

Hi AfriMan.

I think you missed this.
Any update here?

EDIT: Just saw your earlier post. Is said maintenance the infamous IPC upgrade we've all been waiting for? *Squatting in position ready to jump for joy*

Don't jump just yet - this is maintenance to existing IPC. North got an upgrade, we just waiting for the South now :)

Hope you guys saw the maintenance was moved to 17h00. Guess the engineers don't want our clients missing any world cup awesomeness :)

Afriman, I'm currently on a 10Mb business account and thinking of getting a 20Mb uncapped account (as it costs the same) as I can get 20Mb sync.

I'm just worried that going to normal uncapped I'm going to be subjected to all this shaping and other crap, but I cannot justify doubling my ISP cost to get the 20Mb business. Average usage a month is around 500Gb, which is NNTP and Hulu streaming (there is hardly anything else that it is used for)

Thoughts?

One option could be to go capped. If you're on 10Mbps Business you should be R997, and 500GB (250+250) capped is only R999. So two rand more and you don't have a speed rate limit anymore and still fully unshaped.

I'm getting very suspicious about the usage stats. I downloaded 2 files yesterday, with a combined size of about 1.4GB, yet my usage is on 5.4GB...

PC was off rest of the day, with no other devices making use of the line.

Anyone else noticed something like this?

Just remember that DSL usage stats can sometime be delayed when we receive accounting packets later than we should. You should see generally low stats prior to the spike in usage or no stats.

If you're still not sure, then drop me a PM and I'll review for you.

Trying to stream live world cup games on Afrihost uncapped is terrible :(

same issue....I even had buffering on e3 HD streams last week, and that was 3.50 mbps stream....uuuuhm....10mbps line. I think i'm done guys...I tried to live with it.
