Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Give them a call EtTA, I was sorted immediately after I called. Professional and efficient staff :)

What was the issue you had? I don't know if Afrihost can help if it is a Telkom issue seeing as my line is still with Telkom. I just got off the phone with Telkom who logged a line fault after resetting my account didn't work

just for interest sake I've just dumped all my speedtest download results since I got my ADSL into a graph, the red ring indicates when I switched from 4MB capped to uncapped, the variability since moving to uncapped is pretty evident

Well the helpful lady that answered my call noticed 2 errors and 2 line drops while I was talking to her and I did see the 'dsl' light go off momentarily. She confirmed that my was line healthy otherwise and continued to advise me that she would be logging a fault with Telkom. Telkon did come by on Saturday, tested my line and did mention that there a few instance of cable faults in my area but that all was good with my line.

Oh the kind lady did do something to my connection as it has been rock solid since then :D

Only wish I knew her name :o...sigh

So I gave them a call and after a few minutes of checking for faults etc. I eventually got told that it looks as though I am being shaped as "all uncapped products are shaped products". I thought Afrihost changed their products to be unshaped :wtf:

Also, does anyone know how I can move my line to Afrihost? It seems I can do it through the old client zone, but for a 4 Mbps line it costs R399. Is there now way to just convert my current package to the bundle?

Edit: I suppose I use the "Use existing product for this bundle" option :)

Yes, if you Click on MyBundles and make sure you use your existing data account (and don't sign up for a second one) all should be fine :)

We only unshaped Uncapped completely for a two week period, as a sort of promotion/incentive to thank Uncapped clients for their patience. Normal shaping is being applied, but our policy to shape are seldom and as lightly as demand will allow. If we can ever allow Uncapped to be unshaped at any point, we do so. It's completely demand based.

Remember that Business Uncapped is completely unshaped in Office hours and we try to never shape after hours. We only do so if there are capacity issues that force us to, otherwise we don't touch the Business guys :)

Are you on a 10Mbps line - from your graph? I also see some 6Mbps spikes, which are interesting, your account should be rate limited at 4Mbps.

Drop me a PM so I can ask the question

I am so tired of reading this. Afrihost was very clear on what was happening with the unshaping.

I wasn't following the latest happenings on Afrihost at the time :) At the same time I am just fed up with having a useless internet experience. I'm hoping a business package solves this
