..brandspanking new Ubuntu 13.04.
You can install the image now and just do the updates as they come along, sometimes its small, but mostly its about a 100-300Mb system overhaul everu day or two, but still, if she wants 13.04 now, I can attest to the fact that it is rather stable (had two or 3 minor problems with media playback processes that wouldn't die, but thats about it)

I'm liking the 60% increase in Afrihost's capacity. Hopefully it's the start of very good things to come.

I am having huge issues connecting to any US sites, the latency/packet loss is also very high. Anyone else?

Hi

I'm thinking of switching to Afrihost. Could I please get some feedback from the guys on the 2 and 4Mbps packages regarding direct/uTorrent download speeds, Youtube streaming and shaping issues (if any) :)

Well for a change this evening I have http at an average of 263KB while browsing and viewing Asus vids on youtube. Have done 25gigs and the connection is stable so far (touches desk). Came from Mweb of almost 3 years moved since the Seacom debacle - give it a try :)

edit - 4meg uncapped @ R 397

Thanks cryptic1 :)

Mweb has been really good to me up until a few months ago actually, it's just always been too much effort to switch ISPs.

Those speeds look amazing, I hope your desk is made of wood :p

I see that your line is not with Afrihost:
"4meg uncapped @ R 397"
...any reason why not?

http://www.afrihost.com/site/product/adsl_uncapped?src=nav, paid R 1 from the 25/03/2013 til the 31/03/2013. Just billed R 397.00 for May. I had a 2 errors between yesterday and this morning, called Afrihost and they checked the line syncs and have done something now the line is lekker. I was with Mweb since 09/2010 till 25/03/2013, Afrihost are more proactive and give personal attention which I like. A more refreshing approach which other isps should adopt. I was actually prepared to wait a full 2 months due primarily to their attitude before I considered another company.

A complete turnaround to my bitching session yesterday :o

I also like the fact that they are very transparent. You can literally read up on everything about them on their site. Then there's the awesome client zone!!

Glad your line is fully functional again :)

That's the most important, the real test would be tonight with all my dloads in q and maybe some ftps tomorrow during the day ;)

@AfriMan - Any idea when the network will be at its full capacity? I am getting less than half of the download speeds on my line then usual.
