It is back to Orange again.

Yes, that was our bad. Let me explain, EASSy is back up and fixed, there are still some issues and performance is not 100% as it should be. There is every chance that there could be issues, but we also don't want to say it's fixed when we have even the slightest doubt.

EASSy will also go down completely again sometime next week, for full maintenance and thorough testing so that performance goes back to what it was before the breakage.

So it's just in the interests of being completely transparent :)

Thanks for the FYI.

Afrihost is almost dead for me atm. As with the last time my connection bombed, there's a 200ms increase in latency between two Cape Town MTN hops.

Im really starting to question afrihosts ability to influence Telkom on their managed lines, ive had issues since I transferred my line to afrihost and it seems as quick as afrihost can raise a fault on the line the quicker Telkom cancel the fault without doing anything.

It seems to me that afrihost don’t have a service level agreement in place with Telkom and telkom just walk all over them.

I never had any issues with my line until afrihost took over management of it and they seem powerless to do anything about it. Seems Telkom are giving them the finger on the lines they manage….

Yeah, I think there is a lack of communication between Telkom and Afrihost. When I had my ADSL Line installed(activated), the line was already on, so I phoned Afrihost to check the status of my line, which was pending. The guy told me it's not activated yet. I then asked him, if they have followed up with Telkom, and he said yes they did.

From there I told him, that he is being untruthful, because my Line has been on and working for about 2 days....So he fixed the status on their side

Seems like my internet is still terrible.

Afrihost Support say its my line but Telkom say my line is fine.

Telkom Support don't know squat. :p

When my Internet was almost dead, they also told me that nothing was wrong on the line, but I insisted that they recreate my DSL port - and voila. Just call them up again and ask for a port reset. I'm not saying that this will definitely work, but it's worth a shot.

They reset the port when I asked them to and still the same as it was before.
