What can I expect when it comes to Afrihost's throttling/shaping on 2Mb uncapped? Would doing 100 - 150Gb a month be considered alot?

Have been betching to my son (living in America) about our pathetic broadband and he then had to send me his speedtest. Had to go and have a lie down after seeing it. We, of course, can only but dream. Uncapped costs him $28 a month and includes free calls.speedtest.jpg

That's not particularly cheap for a first world country. The complimentary internet that you get with a TV subscription and landline bundle in the UK is uncapped 15Mbps DSL. Everyone I know in the UK doesn't even use it because it's too slow.

Afrihost don't throttle, I am on 177Gigs no shaping the whole morning till approx 16:00 my client zone now says........

100% REALTIME SPEED

Account Overview
Account Status: Account Active
Shaping Policy: 75% Download/ 75% P2P

later it might read 6.5% p2p and that will happen till midnight.

"THEY SAY" it is dynamic, IMHO it has not been proved yet. I have only seen it switch on at approx 15:30 and stay on till
midnight. I am also on a 2Mb line/account.

I'm assuming my inability to log into EVE Online is due to the "Alternate International Traffic Routing" ?

Once again local is fine and international is unusable?

Like absolute clock work

my local and international is perfect here, connecting from centurion, gauteng

I had terrible speeds while trying to stream Netflix and Hulu last night :( Netflix seemed a bit better than Hulu, but at one stage both were completely unusable.

International was pretty bad last night till around 10PM where i could watch a stream and play LoL with some sort of stability.

Afriman. Do you know how long it takes to transfer a line from Telkom to Afrihost? I applied on Tuesday so maybe I'm being a little optimistic to think it might be done by the weekend? :D

So far so good on Afrihost

It can take up to 14 days, really depends on Telkom's procedures and workload. It can also happen as quickly as a couple of days. There's no downtime though, so there shouldn't be any issues while it's moving over.
