Afrihost Uncapped ADSL Feedback

I saw more posts on international issues. We're doing our best to recreate them. It doesn't appear to be a general issue, as our tests show normal speeds, and we're not getting the volume of complaints one would expect if international was truly an full network issue.

We're isolated a few cases where there turns out to be exchange issues, like Durbanville and Beliville in Cape Town, but for now we'll need to address each case individually until we can figure out what is common in each case.

We're also running lots of tests with MTN to check if there are any signs of issues that we can pick up.

Hey Afriman. Let me clarify, I was not in anyway saying anything negative about you. I absolutely appreciate and value what you do on the forums. My gripe is with things that I believe are outside of your control. I'll be honest in that I'm waiting for the IPC to go live and then see where I'm at. I'd hate to leave AfriHost, because I believe the intention of AfriHost is good (I hope I'm not being naive here), but you are being let down by the Tech side of your company.

I'll PM you and we can see where we are.

Feedback. Issue resolved. It appeared to be a "slow port" on the exchange. Afrihost followed up with Telkom and they moved me to a new port. Now I'm getting full speed. Might have taken months to sort out, but at least it sorted now.

Mine tanked to sub 1mbps on a 10mb line as well last night around 20:00, but I wasn't doing anything beyond a bit of light browsing. And then, at about 21:30 when I did want to watch something, Eskom decided I needed an early night. :(

Thank you Afriman

Telkom

We've received feedback from Telkom that Durbanville is definitely congested and that it's taking strain between 6pm and 2am mostly. We don't have an ETA on an upgrade, but we'll let affected clients know as soon as Telkom update us.

Any feedback from guys in Somerset West? Have things returned to normal now?

So pretty much *all* of the time I'm at home during the day. :wtf:

AfriMan could you please tell if you people throttle you 10mb uncapped accounts and if so after what bandwidth usage? What does Afrihost 10mb Uncapped accounts do on average/m

We do not throttle any of our uncapped products. We do however shape protocols such as P2P and the likes when network demand is high.

Check out our uncapped leaderboard to see what is possible using our uncapped account

Any idea what the average download stats are like for 1Mb line?

With Mweb I average around 110Gb a month. (Some months as low as 30Gb others my line is maxed all month, usually when there are some good Steam specials :D).

I wonder if th**********[email protected] is a member of mybb? I'd love to know what he downloads.

As at today I've downloaded 250 gigs with Afrihost :D
